The world can often feel like it's entirely out of our control. Sure, you can vote and go out and protest or such, but sometimes it just feels like it's not doing any good. You wish you had all the power so you could make the changes you want. Well, in Gray Eminence, you have that power to make those changes. However, the other governments also have power and are going to be looking out for their own interests. In the end, it's going to be many different factors that decides who wins. The game is up on Kickstarter now.
From the campaign:
Truth is what you make it
The Gray Eminences or éminence grise (French pronunciation: [eminɑ̃s ɡʁiz]) are powerful individuals unknown to most of society who choose their affiliations, be it country, state, company or other, based on current situations and personal desires.
Meddling in the affairs of the world provides a challenging pastime and offers many opportunities to gain yet more wealth, influence and power.
Gray Eminence is a 3-5 player game lasting 60-90 minutes, in which players take the roles of powerful puppet masters in the modern world, each working towards common goals as well as their own, secret agenda.
Each shadowy figure uses money, power and influence to steer the course of multiple factions toward their own inscrutable ends. Gray Eminence does not pretend to observe political correctness or historical accuracy but aims to induce discussion about the world we live in. We suggest that all events in the game are plausible and event resolution options are within the range of real-world possibilities. We do not, however, pretend that our event resolution options cover all possible eventualities - If you find that you end up discussing event resolution options we didn’t list, that would count as a success in terms of our game design.
‘The keywords’ for this game are Bidding, Voting, Tactical Card Play, Negotiation, Trading, Public Goals, Hidden Agendas and Event Resolution. In Gray Eminence players work together when their interests align... for the moment.
The campaign's a bit more than 2/3 to its funding goal with 14 days left to go.
