Frozen Winds: Seas of Ice is a new miniatures game where players take control of their fleet of ice ships. Those are ships that sail on ice, not ships made of ice. The game is unique in that it's 3D printable. So, they don't even really have to send you anything except for files that you can print out for yourself. The game is up on Kickstarter now.
From the campaign:
Frozen Winds: Seas of Ice is a fast-paced naval miniatures wargame set in a DaVinci inspired ice age. The planet has frozen over. Gale-force winds howl across the ice as you maneuver your ice skiffs to dominate the frigid domain. Based on ships of the line style naval games, Seas of Ice plays much, much faster. A two-player game with half a dozen ships can be played out in about 30 minutes. A six-player game with 20 to 30 boats can run for an afternoon on a kitchen table.
So, there are countless games on Kickstarter, why should you back this one? Well, first and foremost, this is unique in that the reward level for this tabletop game is purely digital. You will get all the STL files and PDFs you need to print your own copy of the game. That's right, this isn't just parts for a game you already have or need to go buy, this is the entire game. You can print as much as you like and have any size battle you want. Even if you don't have a 3D printer of your own, your local library probably does. Or you can send the files off to any print on demand 3D website.
The campaign's 4/5 of the way to its goal with 22 days left to go.
