Dam it all.
That's actually what you'll be doing in Cranio Creations' latest board game, Barrage. Build your dam structures. Get your dam energy. Sell that dam energy to a needing populace. Make sure you have the best dam company and stomp out the other dam companies from taking away your dam profits.
Yes, this was a fun story to write. Barrage is up on Kickstarter now.
About the game:
Barrage is a resource management and strategic placement game. Players will compete to build their majestic dams, raise them to increase their storing capacity of precious water, and deliver all the potential power through the conduits to powerplant energy turbines. In an uchronic, early 1900s world, non-renewable resources are dying out. The Great War just ended with four gigantic explosions that formed many freshwater basins in the heart of the Alps. Meanwhile the echo of an extraordinary scientific discovery resonates, reaching the population: Nikola Tesla, who has been missing for years, announces to the world the creation of a new, large-capacity electrical transformer; a device so powerful to convert water potential into electricity to meet – by scores – the needs of a post-industrial metropolis. A handful of investors immediately sniff out the deal: supported by world’s governments, worried by the conflict and by the energy crisis all over the West, they immediately start working to explore the new technology. Each player represents one of the international companies who are gathering machineries, innovative patents, and brilliant engineers to claim the best location to capture and exploit the water power of a contested Alpine region crossed by rivers. Barrage includes two innovative and challenging mechanics. The Construction wheel, that engage materials and the Water flow that players will have to intercept with dams.
The campaign's around 5x funded with still 26 days left to go.
