Year 2017

NMBR 9 Now Available From Z-Man Games

I'm a huge fan of puzzle games. Blokus, Set, and Apotheca are three my absolute most-favorite games out there, for example. So I'm looking forward to getting a chance to try NMBR 9, the new tile-stacking game from Z-Man Games. Players are looking to place their number-shaped tiles on the stack, but there's very specific rules about how they can go. Get the high tile to score the most points. You can pick up your copy now.

Mob Mentality Party Card Game Up On Kickstarter

People in groups act in interesting ways. There's actually a whole field of study based on it. Some people know how to handle groups of people, figure out what they're thinking, and move them in certain directions (literally and metaphorically). It's trying to figure out what people are thinking and joining in that you'll be doing in Mob Mentality, a new party card game that's up on Kickstarter.

Rise of the Empire Expansion Available For Star Wars: Rebellion

The Empire has a new weapon to use against any system that dares oppose its rule. The Death Star is a massive space station that houses a weapon strong enough to destroy a planet. If the Rebellion hopes to continue on, they're going to have to get the plans for that thing and find a weakness. That's the story behind Rogue One, and now you can bring that to your games of Star Wars: Rebellion, as the Rise of the Empire expansion is now available.

Thursday Terrain Corner

Another month is coming to an end. August has been quite the month. Gen Con was simply amazing, as always. But as we move into September, with the temperature falling along with the leaves from the trees, we're entering my favorite time of the year. However, it's always a good time of the year to have cool gaming tables. And that's just what we're here to help with.

Today in the terrain corner we have: Ice Planet Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame, Acheson Creations Releases 7 New 28mm Plastic Accessories, Urban Sector Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame, and Heroic Maps - Spindlecave River: Rogue's Nook Now Available.

While the GCPS isn't normally the ones headed into Deadzones, sometimes that's all that will work against whatever threat to humanity is to be found there. We get a look at this new faction in this preview that Mantic has posted up.

New Previews For Necromunda Posted

While I might personally have preferred Gorka-Morka (greenskin that I am), many people out there are excited for Necromunda, Games Workshop's other sci-fi skirmish miniatures game of gangs of thugs fighting against one-another. If you'd like a few more details about what you can expect from this new version, Warhammer Community has a new article up.

HeroClix: Undead Set Now Available

My current playlist I'm listening to (and have been for a couple weeks now) includes songs like Misfits - Halloween, Ministry - Everyday is Halloween, and The Cramps - Naked Girl Falling Down the Stairs (because if you're gonna write a song, write a damn song!). As you can tell from at least 2 out of those 3, I'm a fan of this time of year. Some people think it's too early for that stuff. But I certainly don't. And I think WizKids would agree, since they've just released their HeroClix: Undead set.

Dized Board Game App Up On Indiegogo

I think it's safe to say that if you're here on the site (or following us on Social Media), you're a fan of board games. However, learning a new game can, at times, be a bit of a chore. Even a good rulebook can sometimes leave you with questions. That's where Dized comes in. It's a new app that helps you learn board games while you play them. The campaign to fund the app is up on Indiegogo now.

Fantasy Flight Games Announces Battle for Rokugan Board Game

Fantasy Flight Games isn't just remaking the Legend of the Five Rings card game. They're coming out with other games based on the universe. The first to be announced is the Battle for Rokugan board game. While all the clans are loyal to the Emperor, they're still more-than-willing to fight among themselves for supremacy. Take control of one of the clans and show your dominance across the land.

Ogre Video Game In the Works

One of my first games I got into was Steve Jackson's Ogre. Heck, Ogre_Mk5 was a screen name I used for quite a long while. Well, there's an Ogre/G.E.V. video game in the works that accurately recreates not just that video-box game, but all of the Ogre minis world on the tabletop. They've got some sceenshots and a trailer video to check out.

Era: Balam Sci-Fi RPG Up On Kickstarter

I wish I could be a fighter pilot.
No, really. Back when I was a kid, that was near the top of my list of things I wanted to do. Unfortunately, I've got godawful eyes and so Top Gun academy was never really in my fates. But I can live vicariously through my RPGs. And what's better than a fighter pilot? A fighter pilot in space, of course! And that's just what you get to be in Era: Balam, a sci-fi RPG that's up on Kickstarter now.

Midweek Snippets

It's already Wednesday. Is the week going by quickly for everyone else, too? It feels like it is for me, anyway. But being busy will do that, I suppose. If I'm going to keep up this pace, I should stock up on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today we have: Scrap Steel Base Deals Available From Tabletop-Art, Rebel Minis Releases 28mm Minotaur Warlord, Fog Monster Mini Fog Machine Up On Kickstarter, Saint Brendan of Clonfert Mini Available From Brother Vinni, and Through Gamer Goggles Posts Gen Con 2017 Interviews.

Scandinavia and the World: A Heap of Trouble Card Game Up On Kickstarter

I read several webcomics. Some I've followed for quite some time. One that's been around and has quite a following is Scandinavia and the World. It's a humorous look at what countries would be like if they were people and how they'd interact with one-another. Now, they're making a card game. It's called A Heap of Trouble, and it's about getting what those countries want the most, if they're able. The game is up on Kickstarter now.

Table of Ultimate Gaming Up On Kickstarter

So, we play tabletop games. That means you (generally) need a table to play them on (unless you want to play on the floor, I suppose). And, sure, you could play on just any card table or kitchen table. But if you really want a gaming experience, you'll get a real gaming table. Like what? Like the Table of Ultimate Gaming that's up on Kickstarter now.

Founding of the Arcant Expansion Available for TiRoBEx

A new expansion for TiRoBEx has been released. If you're tired of this summer heat (even as things are starting to cool off a bit here in Atlanta) and wish things were a bit more south of freezing, it's the expansion for you. Founding of the Arcant gives players new TRS that can be used in sub-arctic conditions (though I would still recommend playing the game at room temperature). It also has rules for new planets to battle on, as well as gear for all your tiny robots to take into battle.

Pandasaurus Games Taking Pre-Orders for Coaster Park

We all love getting new games right when they're made available. Everyone wants to be the first gamer on their block with the new hotness, after all. The best way to do that is to put your name down for a pre-order. Even better is if you can pick up your game at a convention. Well, Pandasaurus Games is letting you do that with Coaster Park. Pre-orders are being taken now. And if you'll be at Essen, you can pick up your game at the show.

Holy Grail Games to Launch Outlaws: Last Man Standing Card Game Kickstarter

There are some that want to revamp how we elect the President here in the US. Well, in Outlaws: Last Man Standing, a card game coming from Holy Grail Games, it's certainly a bit different than just casting a vote. In the game, players take on the role of a Western governor looking to become the President. But, standing in their way, are the other Governors (there can be only one president, after all). Through deception, trickeration, and possibly other underhanded maneuvers, they'll look to become the one that gets elected. The game is coming to Kickstarter next month.

Dirty Rotten Squirrels Card Game Up On Kickstarter

You know squirrels. They're always looking after their nuts. And that's just what they'll be doing in Dirty Rotten Squirrels, a new card game that's up on Kickstarter. Though, unlike reality, these squirrels are packing heat. Plus, being flighty (as squirrels are wont to be), you gotta be careful, or the squirrels currently protecting your nuts might be bribed into going and protecting your opponent's.
