The Reckoning RPG Board Game Up On Kickstarter

The best RPGs and Board Games are the ones that fully immerse you in the game world. You’re not a bunch of people sitting around a table in someone’s living room/garage/basement/LGS. You’re actually a group of interstellar soldiers, or in a medieval village, or reliving WWII. The Reckoning, a new RPG Board Game that’s currently up on Kickstarter, looks to immerse you in a deep, narrative universe where players are Initiates looking to travel through the Matrix (not the one from the movies).

No Honor Among Thieves Card Game Up On Kickstarter

If you want something, you just gotta go and take it. It’s a philosophy that many adhere to. In general, it means that you can’t just wait for things to fall into your lap. You’ve gotta take the initiative and work towards your goals. Thieves, however, might just take the whole saying literally and run off with your stuff. And sure, they might be able to grab more with a group of other thieves (many hands make light work, after all), but if you want to be the riches, you’re gonna have to learn to not share. That’s the story behind No Honor Among Thieves, a new card game that’s up on Kickstarter.

Midweek Snippets

This week just seems to be screaming by. At least, I feel it is. I’m hoping yours is going by well-enough. I feel it’s mostly because it’s been rather busy over on this side of the screen. Various proofing projects have been passing over my desk. What can I say? I enjoy editing.

Anyway, if I’m going to make it through the rest of the week, I need to power-up on bite-sized gaming stories.

On today’s platter we have: Cold Steel Wardens: Rogues Gallery Kickstarter on Final Day, Microworld Games Releases 6mm Space Rats and Space Ogres, NonsenseMiniatures Releases Ajax, War Co. Kickstarter Already Funded and 2 Weeks to Go, New Viking Banner Bearer From Brother Vinni, Carrotia Funded With 12 Days Left on Kickstarter, Nexus Miniatures Previews Demogorgon, Tabletop-Art Previews Viking Raid cavalry bases, MidKnight Heroes Super Chibi Round 2 Kickstarter launched, Deadlands Double-Shot Kickstarters Coming Soon, and Final Hours for Lords of Rock on Kickstarter.

Tiny Frontiers: Mecha & Monsters RPG Up On Kickstarter

What’s better than giant robots? Giant robots fighting giant monsters. Tiny Frontiers: Mecha & Monsters, is a new stand-alone book in the Tiny Frontiers RPG line. It’s pretty straight-forward in the fact that you can quickly and easily create characters that pilot giant mechs and have them battle against huge monsters.

Small World: River World Coming to Essen

Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Just watch out for those pirates. Yeah, I should probably have warned you about the pirates. That’s just what you’ll have to worry about in Small World: River World, a new expansion for the game that’s going to be available at Spiel Essen.

Arkham Nights 2016 Coming This October

My favorite time of the year is coming up. My Kroger already has Halloween decorations out. I’m stocking up on cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, star anise, and cloves (aka – pumpkin spice). It’s not so hot in the morning that I contemplate using the AC in my car at 5:30am as I drive to the office. Soon, the leaves will be changing color. I’ve got my Type O Negative playlist going on Pandora. And soon Fantasy Flight will be having their Arkham Nights event.

Haven: Titan Command Card Game Up On Kickstarter

Well, we’ve got ourselves a giant robot fighting game here, kids. You know me and my love of giant robot fighting games. This one’s called Haven: Titan Command. In it you’ll make your own customized Titan fighting robot and do battle against your opponents. Fight in exotic locations all across the galaxy as you look to be the last one with a working bot at the end.

AEG Releases Smash Up: Cease & Desist

There’s a new set of cards for Smash Up available. This one, I’m sure, gave the lawyers over at AEG fits. Not to say that other sets haven’t possibly done that, but this one they seemed to go out of their way to toe the line. But they own up to it. The name of the set’s Cease & Desist, after all.

Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #52: Nanotech Undead Now Available

Most of the time when you think of zombies, you think of maybe some voodoo curse, or a necromancer run amok, or maybe some sort of terrible disease. The latest issue of Wisdom from the Wastelands takes a slightly different look at the walking undead. The zombies (and other such undead horrors that inhabit the world) here were purposefully-designed weapons. They’re basically cyberzombies, having been made by mad scientists who grafted technology to corpses to be used in a long-forgotten conflict. Unfortunately, the weapons are still out there, roaming around, not realizing the war they fought in was finished long before.

Podcast Roundup

Monday seemed to fly by, if you ask me. That’s not a complaint, mind you. I’m sure most of us would agree that “wow, Monday went by in a flash” is to be seen as a good thing. The work week’s gotten underway and we can settle in for the next couple days. To help the rest go by as quick as possible, it’s good to listen to some gaming podcasts.

This week we have: Plaid Hat Games Podcast Episode 214: Potential, Game Classy 121: Gen Con ’16 Part 2, 40K Radio – Episode 4, Blue Peg, Pink Peg Episode 80 – Cry Havoc and Our Still Gotta’ Get/Play List, Epic Gaming Night Podcast Ep 68 Out to pasture, and News of the North – 2016-08-30.

Mixin’ Sixes Card Game Up On Kickstarter

On Family Game Night, a quiet, relaxing game of cards is always a nice option. But what if you’re tired of Rummy or Hearts and want something a bit different? Perhaps you could check out Mixin’ Sixes. Though with the various wild cards and bit of backstabbing involved, “quiet” might not be the best descriptor. It does look fun, though.

Trilaterum Sci-Fi Minis Game Now Available

One of the big stories lately in the news is that there could be an Earth-like planet only 4 light years away from us. It’s great to think of possibly going and visiting those places someday. Well, in Trilaterum, that’s just what humanity has done. We’ve reached out for the stars and started to colonize. However, much like Columbus, we realized that we weren’t always the first sentient group to end up someplace. Many alien species exist out there. And, well, miscommunication and such has, unfortunately, led to war. That’s the story behind Trilaterum, a new sci-fi game that’s available now.

Silver Lining Games Releases Sway Debate Party Card Game

Who doesn’t love a good debate? Ok, so I know a lot of people who don’t actually like a good debate. But I do. However, sometimes they can get a bit nasty. People will attack each-other’s arguments or just go after each-other. Well, that’s not a problem in Sway. Things are kept light-hearted, as you’re only able to discuss the positive aspects of your topic.

Corvus Belli Turkey Day Giveaway Happening Today

Happy Turkey Day, everyone!
No, I don’t mean Thanksgiving. Don’t be so self-culturally-centered. I mean Turkey Victory Day! As is tradition for Corvus Belli, when there’s a National Day going on, they have a giveaway. Today’s no different.

Blackwater Gulch Second Edition Up On Kickstarter

The Year of New Editions rolls along. This time headed to the weird West with Gangfight Games’ Blackwater Gulch, 2nd Edition. For those that don’t know, Blackwater Gulch is set during the Gold Rush era (you know, like where the 49ers get their name from). Everyone’s looking to strike it rich. Now, there’s two ways to get gold. You can go out and dig it up for yourself. Or you can just ambush some unsuspecting prospector and grab it. This has created gangs all around the town, each looking out for themselves and their own. Adding to that, there’s plenty of spooky and creepy things roaming the desert that’d love to take a bite out of the human population, literally. Which gang will you back?

The Chronicles of Aerthe Fantasy RPG Up On Kickstarter

The idea that there are multiple versions of our universe floating around out there in different dimensions means that potentially, somewhere, you’re a multi-billionaire that made all your money via gummi-worms. That just seems kinda cool. What wouldn’t be so great, though, is if some sort of magical event (let’s call it “the Convergence” for sake of argument) forced all those parallel realities to now orbit one-another, leaving ripples of the other existences that you now pass through on regular occurrences, causing no end of havoc. That’s just what’s going on in The Chronicles of Aerthe, a new fantasy RPG that’s up on Kickstarter.

GCT Studios Posts New Bushido Previews

The Jung Pirates were a big hit during their release at Gen Con. Lots of people were coming over to check out the new faction and pick up the starter along with a couple extra figures. And while the Jung did get out of the gate (or is that away from the dock, when you’re talking about pirates?) with more than just a starter, they don’t quite have the numbers to match what other factions have. Well, they’ll be catching up a bit, as they’ve got two new releases coming with Wave 31 for Bushido. We get a preview of them today. The Tengu also are a petty new faction. We also get a look at a new mini they’ll be getting.

I like going to Adepticon. Mostly that’s because it feels like going home. That’s because, in a way, it is going home for me, since I was born in Chicago. Plus, it’s just a really cool show. It’s filled with all sorts of tournaments for all sorts of systems. Plus, there’s some of the coolest army boards I’ve ever seen. Well, as good as the show can be, Geek Nation Tours can make it even better with their packages for the show. The tour is booking now.

Paizo Announces Bestiary 6 for Pathfinder

You’ve got heroes in your RPG. Unless you plan on having them just sitting in the tavern, sipping ale and not doing much of anything, you’ll need some monsters for them to go and attack. It’s sort of what heroes tend to do. But what sort of monsters will they go fight? Paizo is helping out with that last one. They’re working on Bestiary 6, which will bring not just ordinary monsters to your tabletop, but also some rather legendary ones as well.

Review Roundup

So, since I spend all my regular workdays gaming, I will often step away from it on my time off. You know, you don’t want to get burned out on a thing. However, last weekend and this, I’ve been all-out gaming just about every chance I can! Last week was game day at the Milton, GA. library. Yesterday a friend came over for some Guild Ball. Today I’m headed to another friend’s (and co-worker) house for more gaming, along with Italian beef and fresh-baked cookies.

So that’s what I’m doing. How about you (besides reading this article)?

Speaking of this article, this week we have: Deadzone 2nd Edition, Manhattan Project: Chain Reaction, Mission to Mars, Tumult Royale, Expo 1906, The Cohort, MODX, The Siblings Trouble, Super Motherload, 13 Days: The Cuban Missile Crisis, Fury Of Dracula, Dead of Winter, Potion Explosion, Dastardly Dirigibles, Apollo XIII, Snow Tails, Kune v Lakia, Deathbot Derby, Game of Train, and Ice Cool.

Celebrity ChariD20 Coming This Sunday To Meltdown Comics

We all know I love gaming. Pretty much the only thing that’s better is gaming for a good cause. Celebrity ChariD20 does just that, having worked to raise over $15k playing some fun games with some cool people. Their next event is rapidly approaching. Heck, it’s happening just this Sunday at Meltdown Comics. And you can watch, live.

Rockalypse: the Fate Core RPG of Musical Conflict Up On Kickstarter

I love playing Bards. I really do. They are, by far, my favorite character class to play. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was in band for years in school, even being section leader in Marching Band my senior year of high school (obviously, I peaked early 😛 ). Well, what if, instead of a high-fantasy world, you had an entire post-apocalyptic RPG based around musical conflict? Well, then you’d have Rockalypse, which is billed as, “Scott Pilgrim meets Mad Max, Tank Girl meets Jem, Beat Street meets Buckaroo Banzai, plus FLCL, Brutal Legend, Six-String Samurai, and more.” They’ve got my attention. They’re also up on Kickstarter.

Slaughter at Splinterfang Gorge Adventure Up On Kickstarter

The Var’Lande used to be a very nice elven thorp. However, it would seem as though some goblins have come marauding through there. The citizens have been slain. Some of the children have even been carted off. That would be horrible enough, warranting some adventurers to go avenge the slain and release the children. However, to add to it all, the goblins are looking to raise an ancient evil during the Garnet Gales Aurora. That you’ll definitely want to stop. That’s the story behind Slaughter at Splinterfang Gorge, a new adventure up on Kickstarter for Pathfinder and 5th Ed.

Friday Snippets

Well, this week started off well, hit some rocky points near the middle, but it seems like it’s going to end alright. One friend got some good news, and at least things have smoothed out a bit for the rest. Me? I’m just looking to maybe get some gaming in over the next couple days and possibly make some Italian Beef sammiches. But before that’s done, we need to nosh on some bite-sized gaming stories.

On the platter today we have: Nexus Miniatures Retro-Booster Promotion Happening Now, ZynVaded! EVO Fully Funded, Ice Kingdoms Kickstarter Enters Final Days, and Kromlech New Release: Junk City Resin Bases.

New Wyrd Chronicles Magazine and Penny Dreadful One-Shot Available From Wyrd

Wyrd’s doing a bit of batch-bundling with their stories, which is alright with me. They’ve got a new issue of their Wyrd Chronicles magazine that you can read over, hopefully escaping from this nasty heat that’s still outside (at least, nasty heat here in Atlanta). They’ve also got a new Penny Dreadful one-shot adventure for the Through The Breach RPG.
