Year 2015

It seems that almost every day we're getting new pledge levels or add-ons for the Infinity RPG over on Kickstarter. Corvus Belli and Modiphius are listening to you, the backers, and adjusting accordingly as new things get requested and added on. You want more minis? You've got it. You want more adventures? You've got it.
My dad used to work for the airlines (and my uncle worked for American in the tower... and a cousin was a mechanic for United...). He was a ticket agent for TWA and later, American. So I grew up with flying as just part of something we did. There was a couple times when we flew from St. Louis to Washington, DC just for the day to go see the Smithsonian museums. It was good times. Well, I know he'd certainly be interested in this game. Clear for Takeoff is up now on Kickstarter.
Frostgrave is getting some new releases for it. Brigade Games and Sally 4th are teaming up to get you some great deals as part of their Nickstarter program. Yes, Nickstarter and not Kickstarter. Because, while they're not over on Kickstarter looking for funding and such, they do have stretch goals based on pre-orders made for the game. The more pre-orders, the more gets unlocked. Hence, Nickstarter.
So, what sort of monstrosity do you think you would need to have in order to control chaos? Well, for Age of Sigmar, you'd need some sort of hulking brute who would just pick up and throw any dissenters towards the enemy. Perhaps someone with a really huge axe and even a braided beard that you could whip someone with. You might be thinking just a Bloodthirster. But really, you would need Skarbrand.
The first expansion book for Wrath of Kings is on its way. The five major houses are gearing up for war. New soldiers are hitting the battlefields, ready to defend or conquer, depending on what's needed at the time. One group that doesn't seem like the "sit around and wait to defend something" group would be the Pelgarth Brutes, of which we are getting a preview of.
Well, it's the first Sunday of autumn and yeah, it's easy to tell here in Atlanta. Yesterday was a heavy drizzle all day. Today it's overcast with a little bit of a breeze. Rather nice.

And, as usual for Sundays, we've got some bite-sized stories to give to you.

Today's batch includes: Crystal Field 30mm and 40mm Round-Lip Base Deals from Tabletop-Art, New Titan Lava Base From Dark Art Miniatures, Mage Company Taking Essen Pre-Orders, and All-New Nova Aetas in January 2016.

It's Saturday. That means reviews. Without further ado, let's get to it.

Today's subjects include: Armello, Castle Panic: The Dark Titan Expansion, Spearpoint 1943 Eastern Front, Clash of Nebulas Battle Mat, Fog & Friction, Heroes, Takenoko Chibis, Mafia de Cuba, Volt: Robot Battle Arena, The King's Armory, Magic the gathering: Arena of the Planeswalkers, and Malifaux.

Ordering direct from a game company via their online store can be a great way to make sure you get the figures you want and give support to said company. However, sometimes the shipping costs can make it such that any money you might've saved ordering direct is more-than wiped out. Well, West Wind Productions is here to help with that if you order from them.
The Russian military isn't necessarily known for subtlety. The phrase "bigger is better" certainly seems to be alive and well in their strategist's minds. From gargantuan tanks to massive airplanes to huge artillery pieces. Even the equipment used for fighting among the buildings and along the streets of a city are bigger. Such is the case with the 203mm obr 1931 Howitzer, now available for Flames of War.
Days are now darker than they are light. The leaves are turning and getting ready to fall from the trees. Temperatures are dropping (it's only supposed to get to about 67 here in Atlanta, if that tells you anything, which it might not if you don't know US geography that well). Wyrd Miniatures figures it's the right time for a painting contest.
I've never been much of a runner. Even when I was young and didn't weigh 110 stone as I do now, I didn't do a lot of running. I was a goalie in soccer (and later hockey) because of it. Meander, mosey, walk, amble. These are the modes of transport I partake in. So while I may not be a zombie, the Twenty Yard Shamble might be just for me. And to help me practice, Sea Dog Game Studio has a tabletop version of that up on Kickstarter now.
Friday! Woo! *tosses papers in the air*
*remembers that there's still a good half of the day left*
*scrambles to try and put all those thrown papers back in order*
*has his boss lean in and say, "Polar Bear! Do you have those TPS reports all set and ready for the presentation? It's time!"*
"Uh, yes, boss! Just a second!"

Ok, that little creative writing exercise aside, let's get on with the bite-size stories from the past couple days.

In this batch we have: Free Stowage with all tanks From Warlord Games, New Morbid Egzekutor Amarath from Hitech Miniatures, Ramshackle Games Water Seller Competition, Space Duck Games Announces El Presidente Kickstarter, Kromlech New Release - Stygian Legionary Backpacks, Stonemaier Games announces Kickstarter project for Scythe board game, Cyclops-Class Assault Armor now available at ClearHorizon Miniatures, Playmore Games'Race to the North Pole begins October 2015, Rocky Mountain Gaming vacation announces Special Guest, Steve Barber Models Posts "About Us" Video, New Female Orc From Brother Vinni, and New Renders For Wild West Exodus From Outlaw Miniatures.

Munchkin is just having all sorts of news around it lately. There's the guest artist editions. There's various expansions coming out. There's also the new The Nightmare Before Christmas set that you can now pre-order. Aside question: Is that movie a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie to you?
An old classic is getting a new version with the release of Samurai from Fantasy Flight Games. The Reiner Knizia tile-laying game of Feudal Japanese conquest is the second in Fantasy Flight's "Euro Classics" line. Do you have what it takes to conquer all the islands of Japan?
So it's officially autumn (or... you know... spring). We're just a couple days from October. So while I know a lot of people (myself included) have already been enjoying "pumpkin spice" ... everything... those hold-outs who think that we were celebrating early are ready to join in. Privateer Press is joining in as well, wanting to see if you hobbyists out there have skills in other creative works besides model-building and painting.
Long-time readers will know I'm a big fan of large minis. Titans, Gargantuans, Leviathans, Huge Dragons, I love them all. 40k has a couple really big minis as part of the game, the most iconic of which are the Titans. Forge World has started taking orders for their new Mars-Alpha Pattern Warlord Titan. They've also got a special deal going.
While it seems a lot of Warlord Games' focus is on Bolt Action and some of their sci-fi properties, they certainly haven't forgotten about their other historical lines. Such as with Pike & Shotte, who have some new musketeer minis that are now available.
Pretty much everyone knows what they'd want to do if "they were in charge" of a country. I know I have often thought of it. Well, in Wrath of the Autarch, you get the chance, with your other players, to create a kingdom of your own. However, not everyone is on board with your new kingdom. There's a large empire just outside of your sphere of influence that wants to see your kingdom in ruins.
Pirates or Ninjas?
Star Wars or Star Trek?
Creamy or Crunchy Peanut Butter?
These topics can be debated for hours. In fact, they have for some time. The Great Debate makes a game out of that and their 2015 expansion is on Kickstarter now.
The Kickstarter campaign for the Infinity RPG with Modiphius isn't the only thing that Corvus Belli is working on with the Infinity brand. If you were worried that they wouldn't be keeping up with their regular releases for the miniatures game, fear not. They've posted up their new releases. Take a look.
You may not care about Thursday, but Thursday certainly cares about you. And yes, it may sometimes just be seen as another hurdle to get over before Friday, but there's a lot of good things about Thursday.
Like... ... ... umm... ... ... Well, it's not Monday.
And we have a Terrain Corner feature. So there's that.

Today's grouping includes: Pre-Orders for the new F.A.T. Mats are Live, 6mm scale crates for base decoration on Indiegogo, and Heroic Maps New Release: The Chaining Stones.

The train's going to be leaving the station soon. You'll want to make sure you're on it. Where's it going? Well, that's for your route cards to decide. Days of Wonder has started taking pre-orders for their new Ticket To Ride: United Kingdom expansion pack. The set's more than just a double-sided map (one side's the UK. The other is Pennsylvania. Because... United Kingdom...).
The Plague is coming... and I don't mean cold and flu season here in the northern hemisphere. The Warpath Kickstarter keeps on chugging along at a pretty steady pace. Backers are pushing the campaign closer and closer to 10x funded. As such, the Plague is soon to be unlocked.
Game-O-Gami has launched a Kickstarter in order to bring a couple new pantheons to their Immortal strategic card game. If they get to their funding goal, they'll be adding Egyptian and Celtic gods to their game. And not just as an expansion pack, they will be putting the new cards into the base game, itself (so the headline might be a bit of a misnomer. It is an expansion, yes, but it's hopefully going to be going into the core game).
The cake is a lie.
But the cookies I made are real. Mmmm, cookies. *munches a cookie*
Cryptozoic takes the fun of Portal and brings it to your tabletop with Portal: The Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game. Players are test subjects, running around Aperture Labs in search of cake. However, the lab is constantly shifting and changing and being a test subject doesn't exactly have a retirement plan, if you know what I mean.
