Year 2015

For most of my friends, Halloween is their favorite holiday of the year. What can I say? I’ve got some weird/cool friends. Though certainly they are known to sometimes dress up just for funsies at any point during the year, Halloween really lets them pull out all the stops. As such, they’re pretty much all huge fans of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. So yeah, they were all pretty jealous when this one showed up on my desk.

So I know you’ve already got at least one song from the movie stuck in your head, but let’s see what is this with another TGN review. This time it’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Munchkin.
Happy Halloween, everyone!
Whether you're going out to a party or staying in, celebrate the holiday with some spooky-themed gaming. At least, that'd be my suggestion.

But how do you know what will and won't be a good game? You read a review, of course! And we've got a whole new batch for you here today.

They include: Blood Rage, The King is Dead, D&D Miniatures White Dracolich Miniature,Battle Foam P.A.C.K 432 Molle Army Bag, Apocalypse Chaos, Conflict of Heroes – Awakening the Bear Second Edition, Brother Vinni Minis, The Grizzled, Pandemic Legacy, Bright Future, Nautilus Industry, Warband Board Game, Stealing Mona Lisa, The Batman Miniatures Game, Isle of Trains, and Sneaky Cards.

Batman just seems custom-made for Halloween. Dark, brooding, and with enemies that certainly fit into various "Halloween tropes." Black cat, scary clown, scarecrow, ... ummm... penguins... Ok, so maybe not that last one, but there's no new Penguin releases this month. What they do have, however, more than makes up for it. You've seen the preview of the Batmobile. Well, now you can pick it up. Plus, there's a place to park it, and all the insane characters you catch during the course of the game.
Warlord Games might be breaking into the sci-fi miniatures business with Beyond the Gates of Antares and Terminator: Genisys, but they're still mostly known for their historical miniatures, and for good reason. They've got quite an extensive catalog of figures and they're constantly adding to it. For example, they've got a whole bunch of new sets for the American Revolution era that they're taking pre-orders for now.
Ares Games keeps chugging along with their Sword & Sorcery board game Kickstarter campaign. There was quite the surge right out of the gate. They're now well over 400% funded and still have a lot of time to go. To help raise that funding total even further, there's a bunch of add-ons that people can add to their pledge.
Seems like this would be the perfect time of year to release a board game based on one of the classic monsters in all of literature. As such, Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce that you can now pick up Fury of Dracula from either your LGS or from their very own webshop.
We have made it to Friday, ladies and gentlemen. Rejoice!
And, like, go eat some candy or something because of Halloween. Have yourself a good time.

Speaking of bite-size items such as those "fun" size candies (never did quite figure out what was so "fun" about them, but there we are, then), we have our usual platter of stories for you. These, however, know exactly why they're fun.

In this batch we have: Free 15mm personality figure: Gaius Marius in Baueda Indiegogo Campaign, Final Day for Anarchy Models HD Stencils Wave 2 Kickstarter, The Prang by Eli Arndt moving to The Ion Age soon, Arena Rex Faction Dice Now Available, New Modern Adventurers & Mercs From Warhansa, and Plaid Hat Games Posts Halloween Downloadable Content for Mice & Mystics.

Hawk Wargames takes to the air with their latest Kickstarter campaign. Well, more to the air than they already were with Dropzone Commander. How did those drop ships get to the planet they're commanding, anyway? That would be the spaceships of the various faction fleets. That's where Dropfleet Commander comes in. Take control of your own armada of ships, fighting off your enemy's fleet, in order to dominate the upper atmosphere.
It's a small world after all.
Sorry about that, but it's becoming more and more true with each passing day. For example, I was just talking with one friend in Wales and another in Australia at the same time. And here's the thing: that's not anywhere near such a big deal as it used to be. The fact that you read that and probably went, "yeah, so what? I do that all the time." just proves my point. And, us being gamers, if we know someone, we probably want to game with them. Well, Sandstorm is a new virtual tabletop that can help make that a reality. They're up on Kickstarter now.
As the month draws to a close, we see that it's time once more for Zenit Miniatures to post up their new releases for both of their minis games, Kensei and Nemesis (which always makes me think of the line, "Do you know what nemesis means?" But that's me). There's several releases for each game, so let's go take a look.
I have to say, the look of various Games Workshop/Forge World models sometimes leaves me scratching my head. I tend to not really like it when things are overly-flashy or models are in really awkward poses. Neither of those are the case with the new Solar Auxilia Veletaris Storm Section unit that's up for pre-order now over on Forge World's page.
Well, ghosts and such seems like an incredibly appropriate topic for this time of year. Y'know, with the Halloween thing and all. In fact, now that I think about it, I might just watch Ghostbusters on Saturday (along with the Evil Dead movies, just because). And shortly thereafter, I'll be able to play Ghostbusters, as Cryptozoic has announced the release date for their Ghostbusters board game.
So you've seen all this stuff about Beyond the Gates of Antares. You've followed along with the twists and turns of its history. You maybe even downloaded the Beta rulebook. But you know some of the rules changed between that and this final version. So maybe you're a little leery of wanting to buy an entire battle box set only to find out that the rules aren't what you'd hoped they would be. Well, Warlord Games is now taking pre-orders for the Beyond the Gates of Antares rulebook.
Well, as all things do on Kickstarter, they have to come to an end at some point. For Scythe, the new alternate-history board game from Stonemaier Games, that end point is a week away. "How's that campaign been doing since it started?" you might ask. Well, they've broken $1mil.
I'll be honest, I'm not one for cities. Crowded thoroughfares and bustling nightlife really isn't for me. I'll gladly take the suburbs or even just small-town life out in the styx somewhere. But that doesn't mean that I don't want to visit cities from time to time. There's always plenty to see and do. I just wouldn't want to call one "home." Well, for as much as there is to see and do in someplace like New York or London or Hong Kong, there's even more to see in Sig: The City Between. And that's just the topic of a new sourcebook for the Spark RPG that's up on Kickstarter now.
Metal King Studio is now taking orders for Relicblade: Adventure Battle Game, their new fantasy miniatures game. They're planning on running a Kickstarter campaign next year, but you can already get the first wave of figures in pre-release form.
We're getting there, people. We're making our way to the weekend. For many, it will start with some Halloween parties tomorrow night. Any of you got any Halloween gaming plans? I'm thinking I might just get a bunch of bags of candy and watch all the Evil Dead movies and then figure out what else from there. Anyone wanna come over and join in? ;)

At the moment, though, we've got some stories to make your gaming table look as good as possible. It's time for another Terrain Corner.

Today we have: Chaos Factory Fantasy Sports Accessory/Field Indiegogo Campaign Running Now, Scenery Dice are now available, and Fat Dragon adds 'snap-lock' cave terrain to Kickstarter.

Well, it seems that Halloween is time for monster-related news of all type. Though this is a bit different than a sale or a new zombie mini. Paradox Interactive has announced that they are purchasing White Wolf Publishing from CCP Games. This means that World of Darkness, Vampire: the Masquerade, and Werewolf: The Apocalypse are now under Paradox's umbrella. Paradox has said that White Wolf will remain an independent entity with its own dedicated team.
Halloween's a pretty popular time to be running a sale. We've seen a lot of them already, here's another. This time it's Empress Miniatures who is letting you get some minis for cheaper than you'd usually have to spend.
I dig giant robots.
You dig giant robots.
We dig giant robots.
Chicks dig giant robots.
And Thon is here to deliver with a new giant robot figure available over in their webshop. This one's the Havok-S "Sidewinder."
One of the bigger news stories of the past couple months is how AEG will be turning over production of the Legend of the Five Rings card game to Fantasy Flight Games. As AEG starts wrapping up production for the game, they're offering one last set of Koku sets for players.
Are you really into games? Do you already like to host events either at your LGS or other locations? Would you like to get rewarded for it? Would you like to help out a major gaming company at conventions? If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, Fantasy Flight Games might have just the program for you. They're now starting up their Flight Crew demo team and are looking for new recruits.
It's sometimes rough to try and find just the right miniature for your army or RP character. You can spend hours surfing online, looking through catalogs of figures and never quite find the right one. One might be the wrong race. Another might be armed incorrectly. Another doesn't have quite the right armor. Add in needing the proper mount and it makes things 10x worse. Thankfully, Imagine 3D Miniatures is here to help and they've got their Mounted Heroes sets now available.
Have you ever been gaming when the lights go out? Maybe the power went out because of a storm or some accident. Or perhaps you're out camping and the fire's dying. Or maybe you just like playing games in the dark (not those types of games, you perv!). Well, even without light, you can play Witty Wars because these cards glow in the dark.
Our intrepid cameraman, Joe-Nathan, who shot pretty much every video you've seen with me in it, and the other various videos on TGN, and did many of the Kickstarter and extra videos for CoolMiniOrNot is going to be starting his own video production company. So that leaves a bit of a gap that needs to be filled here. So our loss is your gain, as CoolMiniOrNot is looking for a new Videographer/Editor/Producer.
