Year 2010

2010 TGN Editor's Choice Winners

Editor's Choice Awards

The second round of voting is over and it is time to announce the winners of the 2010 Tabletop Gaming news Editor's Choice Awards.

Over the last few weeks the members of the Award Jury have been submitting their votes for their top ten and then their top three entrants. Last week our "long list" was narrowed to a top ten in each category. And now it is time to announce the winner and runner-up in each of the seven categories.

This year's awards were probably the most difficult to do. Not only was the nomination list the longest it has even been but the general level of sculpting, design and general professionalism in the hobby went up a notch this year making it quite difficult to pick the winners in this year's Editor's Choice Awards.

Dust Tactics Modeling Masterclass - Session 2

Fantasy Flight Games have posted the second article in their Dust Tactics Modeling Masterclass series. From their website:
All of the models in Dust Tactics will look even better than they already do with just a small effort to paint, or personalize them in some way. In this second of three articles, we continue following along as master modeler José Brito fully customizes the two Axis combat walkers found in the Dust Tactics core set. In the last article, José focused on the physical elements of the model by adding surface details, extra wires and cabling, armor plating and much more. Today, we’ll watch as he begins the painting process. You may be surprised just how quickly and simply a few layers of paint can transform these models into spectacularly unique playing pieces.

Galloping Major price increase

Galloping Major Wargames will be raising their prices in the new year. From their website:
Along with most of the industry, we've been attempting to hold back prices against the cost of casting metal almost doubling over 2010 among other rising costs. Also along with most of the rest of the industry, we're going to have to increase our prices, in our case to £8.75 per pack. Any orders placed before 8th January will be at the old price. New packs including the Ranger command packs will be released at the new price, but we'll start to introduce opportunities for advantageous purchases of specific combinations of packs from that time.

DreamForge Leviathan Mortis limited edition first release

DreamForge-Games have released the first of their Leviathan Mortis Limited Edition kits on eBay. Limited Edition From their announcement:
The first release from DreamForge-Games has been listed on eBay. Casting took considerably longer than planned, two days of fussing with new molds and adjusting vent and sprue size. I suppose it’s to be expected but it sure is frustrating. Because of the current production rate, I have concluded that I need to move this out of house sooner than later and will be working toward that end. Until then I had to choose what way would allow the most people a shot at purchasing a kit... I settled on the auction format. I know it’s not ideal and bidding may go over the suggested retail but the market supply and demand will set the price and if there is extra profit, it will go straight to the contract caster to get that end rolling. I refuse to take pre-orders because I will not sell something that is not in a box and ready to ship.... Been there, done that, and won’t do it again. There are just too many things that can go wrong, and I would prefer not to anger my customers with unreasonable wait times. Happy New Years everyone
