Clearly WizKids learned from their previous failed business plan of producing a dozen different products and putting little backing behind any one of them.

what is not getting much support? hero clix is huge, most of their board games have expansions coming out, aside from the one shot titles like smurfs and some of the little mass market things everything is being supported at some level.

TylerT – isn’t Heroclix actually owned and run by a different company these days?

        • TylerT

not just heroclix, all of wizkids is owned by NECA. I’m loving their stuff these days. Older wizkids products lacked a little polish but most of their new stuff has been great!

The support for the Trek games have been dreadful. The expansion for Expeditions looks dreadful from what they showed with crappy quality on the figs, errors already, and no actual new game expansion. Fleet Captains has had zero feedback about the future of the game or just support in general for it. Quality control has been pretty awful as well.

If it’s not Heroclix itself, the support has been weak

Hopefully Paizo will keep them focused.

So will this be a stand alone game, or only supplemental to the RPG?

    • Hunter

It’s not a stand alone game. It’s just pre-painted plastic fantasy figures primarily for use with the Pathfinder rpg. Though most are fairly generic D&D-fantasy monsters.

Actually, I believe they said there would be stand alone rules, but I may be wrong.

  • TylerT

odd i thought there were standalone rules but i don’t see anything. normally there would be a starter set or something if there was. these look to be just miniatures meant for role playing.

Why would they make these blind purchase boosters if not stand alone? Or am I misreading and these arent blind purchase?

    • Hunter

They’re blind buy. Done that way presumably to make up the cost. Though Paizo does sell singles on their own page as well and I’m sure more sites will have singles as well.

These are best thought of as the inheritors of the D&D minis legacy, sans attempted skirmish game (which is redundant with D&D really).
