WizKids has their final convention preview up with Superman and Superman (and no, that’s not a typo).

From the preview:

Greetings WizKids Fans and Supporters!

Sometimes at a convention, you need a friend to save you from yourself. Like telling you to take a break, or not to spend all your money on the first day, or teaming up with you in a game of HeroClix and saving you from defeat. Our sixth and final 2012 HeroClix convention preview is Superman and Superman, who stepped in to save the day when a Crisis threatened their worlds.

    Hmm…. this is getting silly…

I don’t get it. Why are there two?

      Try reading the article.

I watch these superhero movies and think to myself ‘hmm, that was pretty cool, mebbe I should get into reading comics’, then I see these utterly lame story-lines and change my mind ^^

The problem with modern comic storylines is even if you read them you still wind up scratching your head saying, “huh?”

  • There actually is an explanation for this:
After Crisis on Infinite Earths (a story created to merge the many Earths of DC into one Earth and one timeline). All the alternate heros from other Earths were thought to be destroyed/merged/etc. with the notable exception of Ms.Marvel and some of the Justice Society characters (if memory serves).

Anyway, that wasn’t the case as Earth-2 Superman and Lois Lane, Alexander Luthor, and Superboy Prime were trapped in a pocket dimension for like… a really long time. This was revealed during the year long 52 storyline which culminated in Final Crisis (if memory serves) and a war between the Green and Yellow Lanterns.

During this the trapped heros broke out of stasis to fix what they saw as a broken world with superheros that had lost their moral compass. However, Alexander Luthor and Superboy Prime had other plans and wanted to bring their respective Earths back possibly destroying ours. Superboy Prime goes mad and as the only superhero from his home world is the most powerful Superman to ever exist so Superman from main continuity and Earth-2 Superman team up to fight him finally driving him through a sun to restrain him. Thus 2 supermen.

You can probably get a more precise answer on Wiki, but it was fun to test my memory.

    🙂

      Wow… I agree with Haibane above…

That was a very comples storyline, though…

They arent even trying to balance the power creep now.

I agree, but then there’s also the issue of figures not being designed properly to begin with. I mean here we have a duo figure which actually is LESS powerful than the individual figures (i.e. E2 superman has much more punch and is 317 pts, so is Superman Prime who the 2 supes are supposed to only be able to defeat together).

So now not only are the non-comic fans laughing this off as being silly, it would seem DC and Crisis fans are unhappy with the unrealistic design.
