L4 Studios and Mr. B Games' new board game, WarQuest, is now up on Kickstarter. Fans of epic, fantasy board games should give this project a look. The tragline promises you'll need a bigger table to fit the game, and you just might with a board measuring in at 36"x42" and 115 miniatures. As players battle across the fantasy world of Myrathia, they'll amass their armies of Dwarfs, Elves, Goblins, Satyrs, and Orcs and complete quests with the ultimate goal of becoming the most powerful Warlord of Myrathia and push back the forces of the Wraith King.
WarQuest is designed by Glenn Drover, founder of of Eagle Games, and veteran of the industry. Some of his most well known games are Railroad Tycoon, Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery, Sid Meier's Civilization, and many more. Artist Ralph Horsley (Lords of Waterdeep, Magic: The Gathering, and more) and Paul E. Niemeyer (Sid Meier's Civilization, Bootleggers, and more) are providing a lot of classic looking fantasy art for the game. I particularly love the box art by Horsley.
The WarQuest project is looking to make $85,000 and has plenty of stretch goals and super stretch rewards along the way. For $90, you get the base retail game and the basic level of stretch goals. For $125, pledges get the deluxe Kickstarter game with the stretch goals and super stretch rewards. And if you want to go all in, the $275 level gets you the game, the rewards, and all of the optional expansions (including the one that lets one player play as the Wrath King). Head on over to WarQuest's Kickstarter page to check it all out. And let us know what you think about the game in the comments.
