Warlord Games Taking Pre-Orders For Panzer VIII Maus

While we commonly associate Russia with always creating “the biggest _____ to ever be used in battle,” the biggest and most-armored fighting vehicle to ever see active combat actually came from Germany in WWII. That was the antonym-named “Maus” tank. Soon, you’ll be able to add it to your Bolt Action forces.

From the announcement:

Demand for the Maus has been overwhelming and as such production is underway to provide more as soon as possible. Pre-order yours today to be first in the queue when the new casts arrive over the next few weeks!

Unsurprisingly this is a challenging model to cast so we only have a limited stock available at release. After this initial stock is gone, we will cast your Maus to order especially for you, so there may be an extra wait.

The Maus didn’t actually enter combat. It probably wouldn’t have done much, since fuel concerns (and the sheer amount of time and resources it’d have taken to build) would have left it sidelined in favor of replacement parts/additional existing tanks.

I suspect it’d have gotten stuck in the mud, like the Ferdinand before it.

Well it did fire a couple of times before the Soviets over-ran the testing ground. Their were 2. The second had no turret and was sent to use to pull the main Maus in case it got stuck in Mud or had to cross a river.
It was never assigned to a unit and it was a test crew that used it as a bunker briefly before surrendering. The first Shot unseated the Turret.

        I did not know that–thanks!

Admittedly, it wasn’t ready for it, but that is what I would have expected from something designed along WWI philosophies…
