Wargames, Soldiers and StrategyWargames, Soldiers and Strategy is once again being published.

From their announcement:
Months after being discontinued, the English edition of the popular historical wargaming magazine, Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy, returns to stores under new management. Originally produced in Spain by Revistas Profesionales, the English version of the magazine ceased publication in May 2010.

The disappearance of WSS was regarded by many in the wargaming community as an great loss, one of those being Jasper Oorthuys, managing editor at Karwansaray Publishers. Karwansaray produces Ancient Warfare magazine and the upcoming Medieval Warfare magazine. Impressed by the magazine’s quality and potential, he spearheaded a bid to acquire the magazine from Revistas. Now under new ownership, Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy will debut as a bi-monthly publication with its official relaunch on April 16, 2011 at Salute in London. Guy Bowers ([email protected]) will be returning as the magazine’s chief editor.

For original readers, much about Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy will seem familiar, though under Karwansaray, many aspects will be refreshed and revitalized to give the magazine a fun, relaxed attitude that better addresses the needs of its readership. Central to WSS’s focus will be a special emphasis on the gaming element of historical wargaming: while historical context and narrative will remain important, greater attention will be placed on the actual mechanics and realities of building a campaign or fighting a tabletop battle. The appearance and quality of Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy will also get a makeover, bringing it more in line with Karwansaray Publishers other magazines, all well-regarded for their excellent production value and gorgeous artwork.

Karwansaray will be honoring all current subscriptions to Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy. While the publisher will be contacting all known subscribers, those with an outstanding subscription are encouraged to contact them to confirm. Many back issues of WSS will also be made available digitally through an online webshop.
