I am a fan of abstract strategy games. I also have an interest in WWI. Well, mix those two together and you get Trench, a new strategy board game that’s up on Kickstarter now. Take control of your army and maneuver your way across the diamond-shaped board and to the other side of the trench that divides it. Capture your opponent’s pieces and press on to victory.
About the campaign:
TRENCH is an abstract strategy game for 2 players, based on the trench wars of WWI.
With its innovative algorithm, TRENCH realistically reproduces the movements of each military rank, making the game scalable in its degree of difficulty and making it almost impossible for the game to end in a draw. From the Soldiers to the General, each piece being subject to specific maneuvers all will have to cooperate in order to occupy the trench, invade the enemy’s territory, and vanquish the foe. The army that manages to survive after two battles wins the game!
The Premium edition of the game, which is made in Portugal, is being offered for $36, and the Classic Wooden edition is available for $59.
TRENCH is 100% language independent, however, the rules are available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German and Russian
The campaign is up and running now. They’re about 1/3 of the way to their goal with still 29 days on the clock.
