Total Wargamer have posted a review of the new Citadel Finecast miniatures.

From their announcement:

Having taken a long, hard look at the new Finecast range of resin miniatures from Games Workshop, Total Wargamer have put a review together for the wargames playing public.

  • Acharnement

That was useful to have a side-by-side comparison. Speaking for myself, I don’t care that the detail is that extra percentage point better than metal. I usually look at my models from a foot to 3 feet away so I am not going to notice the greater definition.
It does make me a little upset that people who are new to gaming will buy GW’s stuff even though it is more expensive, but there is one born every minute.

  • Are this the best resin mini’s in the world ??? and I have seen even worse !!!

I wouldn’t give this quality away for free.

An amateur in his garage can cast this resin quality and with less proffesional casting materials.

But let us all buy this Finecast resine mini’s now, so GW can invested our money in a better casting quality and ask more money when they cast better quality in six months –) the nexct price rise.

  • I had a look at the new minis at my FLGS, and the only “problem” I could see was some minor warping of staffs and similar things (which is inevitable AFAIK).

There were some extensive flashs on some models, and mould lines are still present, but these things are more annoying on metal miniatures.

All in all nothing I haven’t seen from Forgeworld or other companies.

The only thing I don’t like is that some of the squads now come with less options 🙁
