Ambush Alley Games have sent details of the pre-release of their Tomorrow’s War sci-fi rules.
From their announcement:
“If you want a game where you can “buy” success with your army list, where every weapon you have works as it should all the time, every metal or plastic figure follows his orders exactly, and where the flow of the game is chess-like in its predictability, then there are quite a lot of others out there for you. But if you want a game that makes you feel like you are leading a squad of real soldiers in full NBC gear through the rubble of Beijing, or you’re up to your ass in mud and bugs in the jungles of Exlax V and you know that a Separatist Militia sniper team is out there somewhere, then you want Tomorrow’s War.” – Jon Tuffley, Ground Zero Games – from his introduction to Tomorrow’s War.
Ambush Alley Games is pleased to announce that the pre-release version of their much anticipated military science fiction miniatures game, Tomorrow’s War, is in the final stages of production and will be released before the end of September. It is an expansion for the current version of Force on Force, containing all the rules for science fiction combat that will be found in the full, stand-alone version of the title slated for release by Ambush Alley Games/Osprey Publishing in September 2011, but missing the extensive (but purely optional) game setting and art from some outstanding science fiction artists (two of whom are known for their work on block-buster Hollywood science fiction films). This pre-release version is an expansion and requires Force on Force to play.
Why a pre-release version of Tomorrow’s War? Why not just wait until the full-version Osprey edition comes out next year? Simple: Over a year ago, before we’d entered into partnership with Osprey, we made a commitment to our customers to release science fiction rules by September of this year. We see no reason to break a commitment to our customers just because it would be more convenient. By offering this pre-release version, we give our customers the option of waiting for the stand-alone Osprey version or getting a head-start on Tomorrow’s War today with an affordably priced, utilitarian expansion.
The Tomorrow’s War pre-release PDF will come at two price points (SOG discounts apply):
1) Tomorrow’s War expansion plus printer friendly version of Force on Force: $20 USD
2) Tomorrow’s War expansion only: $15 USD
This pre-release PDF will only be available until the end of March, 2011, when it will be pulled from our store in advance of the Ambush Alley Games/Osprey Publishing release of the full version edition of Tomorrow’s War in both print and e-book format.
