Aliens landing in their flying saucers. Giant bugs and swamp monsters created/awoken by radiation stalk around. Robots break free from their creator’s control making a giant mess of things. Fedoras (actual fedoras, not trilbys) everywhere! Yes, it’s the 1950s, a time of advancement in science and industry. The atomic age. The age of really bad movies that you can now RP in thanks to This Defiant Earth, a new RPG that’s up on Kickstarter.

Players will take on the role of agents in the employ of the US Government who must protect its citizens from all manner of threats. There’s Russian super-spies and their gadgets. There’s nuclear-powered monsters. There’s giant leeches.
The game uses the Lucy 6 System utilized in Urban Knights, so if you’re familiar with that, then you’re already a step ahead.

The Kickstarter campaign is up and running now. They’re a bit more than half-funded with still 26 days left to go.

Hello! I’m C. Michael Hall, the creator and designer of THIS DEFIANT EARTH. Thanks for the mention! I thought you (and your readers) might be interested to know that players aren’t limited to playing government agents; actually, they can play ANY kind of character one might encounter in a 1950s sci-fi film! The game does include a quasi-governmental agency that helps facilitate ease of entry into the game’s fictional universe, but the choice of PC is wide open, and that government angle is purely optional. In playtests, we’ve even had players recreate members of the Scooby-Doo cast as 1950s sci-fi heroes, which was weird and pretty much awesome.
