For everyone that’s been worried about it: My fruitcake turned out perfectly. 😛
Since I know that all of you have been waiting with baited breath to find out about it. We’ll see how it goes over with everyone at the office tomorrow, where everyone will get a good bite of what, I hope, is a new revolution in thinking about fruitcake.

On the subject of good bites, we’ve got some bite-sized news stories for you, as usual.

Today’s include: Iron Cross: release date & pre-order announced, Rebel Minis Releases 28mm Dark Hold Bonewalker Wraiths Set, Squadron Strike 2nd Edition Coming Now, and Hadekine Demon release by Gary Hunt Miniatures and Zombiesmith.

Iron Cross: release date & pre-order announced

Released on December 15th, the Iron Cross rule book, accessories and army deals are up for pre-order on the Great Escape Games website now.

Rebel Minis Releases 28mm Dark Hold Bonewalker Wraiths Set

Rebel Minis is proud to announce the release of our newest 28mm Dark Hold Models, The Dark Hold Bonewalker Wraiths set. This set contains 3 models, the Bonewalker Leader, Spellbringer and Caster. Each model is supplied unpainted and comes with a plastic slotta base. These models can also be bought separately. Perfect for your Fantasy and RPG games!

Squadron Strike 2nd Edition Coming Now

Squadron Strike

Sometime in the next three to five days, Squadron Strike will have a 2nd edition put up on the Ad Astra website.

Several changes have been made, to fighter combat, dealing with torpedoes and missiles, and some wording has been clarified in weapon traits. The campaign system that nobody ever used has been removed, as has the ground combat engine, which will be revamped into a new product. There are more examples in the rulebook, and some choices were made to make larger games more interesting.

The included setting and SSD book are the Empire/Directorate War. One of the projects for next year is rebuilding the Diaspora setting to something that’s more fun to read and revamping the ships to make them more fun to play. The setting book will be in two volumes; the first is a 52 page “fly through” tutorial, with fictional lead ins to the scenario. Each scenario adds a few new rules at a time until you’ve got the entire game under your belt. The second is an expanded section of historical scenarios that build off of the tutorial and make it into a fully fledged campaign game.

If you’re a fan of the Starfire setting materials, where there are scenarios with interludes, this should scratch the same fictional itch.

The SSD book includes a fortress, and 2D and 3D versions of every SSD.

Below are some of the art pieces we did for the book — hat tip to Charles Oines, of course.

If you’re waiting for a back-order, it will be fulfilled as a 2nd edition game.

If you’ve bought the PDF rulebooks, there will be a discount code emailed to you to buy new versions of the PDFs for the new edition.

And, of course, if you already own the game, we’ll be selling upgrade kits that replace all the items in the box that changed.

Hadekine Demon release by Gary Hunt Miniatures and Zombiesmith

The Hadekine “Soul Destroyer” Demon has now been released in the Gary Hunt Miniatures shop and also on the Zombiesmith website. The Hadekine is a twisted Demonic apparition suitable for scales from 15mm to 54mm, measures 60mm from head to heel and has a total height of 90mm.and cast in pewter. US$27.00

Few who witness the Hadekine will live to tell the tale. Described as
‘Soul Destroyers’ in the common tongue, they stalk across the world, drawn by the promise of fresh souls, appearing in the midst of conflict as terrible winged figures. Those who engage such demons will find themselves surrounded by a multitude of horrors
– the essence of past victims now joining the fray in service of their dark master. Driven by an eternal hunger, Hadekine pierce their opponents with beak like extremities, seeking to draw living souls through breached armor and torn flesh alike.

I’ll share pics of a painted version asap…

The next “Fantasy Warr” project I’ll be getting ready for release are the Geladan warriors (a cross between man and the Gelada Baboon of Ethiopia) and their warbeast. I won’t get them out before Xmas but sometime in the New year. Here is a sneak peek at the Geladan on Warbeast. It’s a digital render soon to be 3d printed, the warriors being approx 36mm tall
