Talislanta has been around for quite some time, originally being published in 1986. I’m guessing quite a few of you readers weren’t even born yet. Obviously, it didn’t quite get the same following that Dungeons & Dragons had, but it did have something that D&D didn’t. Or should I say, it didn’t have something that D&D did: Elves. The setting doesn’t take tropes from Tolkien, instead going for writers like Jack Vance, H.P. Lovecraft, and Michael Moorcock. Talislanta: The Savage Land is set in a time before the standard Talislanta setting. It’s also up on Kickstarter now, in various forms such as 5th Edition and Open D6.
From the campaign:
To all fans of the original Talislanta RPG: just wanted to let you know that the first all-new Talislanta book in many years is currently being offered on Kickstarter.com. The book is called Talislanta: The Savage Land, and it’s a prequel to the original Talislanta RPG. It’s available in three different formats (Talislanta game system, 5th Edition D&D, and D6) and features some amazing artwork by the talented David Arenas, a professional-quality MP3 soundtrack album, and such extras as custom Savage Land dice and a poster-size map of the Savage Land.
Talislanta: The Savage Land will be published by Stewart Wieck’s Nocturnal Media. If you liked the original Talislanta RPG, I hope you’ll check this out. 🙂
The Kickstarter is going well. They’re more than 2x their funding goal and still have 27 days left to go.
