The League of Augsburg

Love is a battlefield... So was Central Europe for much of its history. In order to recreate the conflicts that raged across the continent from 1660 to 1721, the League of Augsburg has created Beneath the Lily Banners: The War of Three Kings. They're taking pre-orders for this pike & shotte-era miniatures game now.
Well, I felt well-enough to head back into the office today. Though, I have to admit, I did have some incentive. But be that as it may, it's time to power-up with some bite-sized gaming stories in our Midweek Snippets feature.

Today we have: Welcome to the Olde World ... Miniatures Kickstarter, Purgatory Ramps up with stat card prototypes, Dark Sword Miniatures Posts 12 New Releases, Polyversal Miniatures Game nears funding goal, NonsenseMiniatures Releases Aquiles vs Hector Diorama, Uniform Guides for the War of the Grand Alliance 1690, Khurasan releases Testudo 15mm Generals and Dragoons, Zombie and Skeleton Fantasy Monsters series I On Kickstarter, Raging Heroes Releases Keela Krupps from Toughest Girls of the Galaxy, New Dwarf Lord on Mountain Ram from Scibor, Red Panda Miniatures Posts New Artwork and Kickstarter Update, and LOAD Kickstarter Launch date announced.

The League of Augsburg has previewed Donnybrook (no, they didn't bring the old TV show back... does anyone else besides me even remember that show?), their new skirmish set of rules for the years 1660-1760.

From the release:

Donnybrook is a fast paced skirmish game designed to cover conflicts across the globe from 1660 to 1760. The basic game of requires a force of 12-48 models, depending on their quality, and one character who represents the player on the table top. Games are played on a 4x4' table. You can add additional units and additional characters as you like, as long as both sides use the same conventions, though you'll need a larger table as you increase the numbers! Donnybrook uses a card driven turn system that creates exciting, unpredictable play. Besides leading government troops into battle, you can choose mobs of armed peasants, murderous brigands, religious fanatics, sinister cultists, ferocious highlanders, or tribal natives. This book includes the rules, faction lists, weapons primer, random events, seven scenarios, and a period and theater guide.

The game will be available for pre-order in the next few weeks…

The League of Augsburg blog is looking for new contributors to help grow their community.

From the casting call:

The purpose of the League of Augsburg blog is to support the continued growth of Beneath the Lily Banners, the launch of Donnybrook, Warfare Miniatures, and the general promotion of the period of military history from 1660-1721 (give or take a couple of decades). There will be multiple authors and artists contributing to these pages and after we launch we will consider submissions from guests as well, creating an alliance worthy of the name The League of Augsburg. The plan is to present a wide variety of articles - history, wargaming, painting, terrain building, scenarios, and battle reports, as well as news for Warfare Miniatures, Wordtwister Publishing, and Quindia Studios.
