New Spartan Pre-Releases Available to Order

We’re just chock full of pre-releases this morning here on TGN. There were the new Age of Sigmar figures. There’s the Warpath Kickstarter (which some consider Kickstarters to just be “glorified pre-releases.” I disagree on many occasions, but that’s a discussion for the comments section). Now we’ve got a large amount of Spartan Games pre-releases to let you know about. The releases that’ll start shipping on Oct. 28th have been posted in the Spartan webshop.

Double-Helix Deals Back At Spartan Games

Nobody likes just having the bare minimum for something. “Well, it’s just enough to get by.” isn’t something people like to say or admit to. Having double the amount gives you a lot more options and flexibility and just generally makes things more pleasant. It’s with that in mind that Spartan Games has reinstated their Double Helix Deals over in their webshop.

Photo Galleries from Day 2 of Gen Con

Day 2 is about to be in the books (as it’s only got about 15min. left and then I’m going to go to sleep). It was quite a wild and busy Friday. The frantic-ness of Thursday turned into a more calm, but no less busy Friday. Everyone was buzzing about the games that they’d picked up the day before or tried overnight.

I, of course, once more made my rounds of the place and got some galleries of photos over on the TGN Facebook page.

So… all that stuff in the other post about surveys. Well, it would seem Spartan thought it was a good idea as well. So they’re running their Spartan Games Survey 2015. Let them know what you like about their games… and maybe a bit about what you don’t like, too. You’d better hurry, though, since it only lasts until the 17th. Spartan Games Announces Halo Fleet Battles Launch Date

Spartan Games was extremely happy to be able to work on the Halo franchise of games. They’ve been secretly working on it for some time, going back and forth with Microsoft and 343 Industries, making sure everything was juuuuust right. They are, after all, bringing things from the Halo universe to life that had only been glimpsed at and speculated upon for some time. Well, the time has finally come to announce the date for when these fleets of ships will be able to make their way to your tabletop.

Halo: Fleet Battles Expands The Halo Universe From Console to Tabletop

In 2001, Microsoft changed the landscape of console based shooters with the release of Halo: Combat Evolved for the original Xbox, introducing the world to Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 (or the Master Chief for short) and a rich, sci-fi universe. Over the years the franchise spawned many more releases ranging from sequels to books and comics to updated re-releases on new consoles. And on October 27, 2015, Microsoft and 343 Industries (the developers and caretakers of Halo) will release Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One. But soon, another all-new gameplay experience will be available thanks to Spartan Games — an appropriately named UK based tabletop game studio. In February 2015, Spartan announced its forthcoming tabletop miniature game, Halo: Fleet Battles. Continue reading

Spartan Games Launches Universal Modular Terrain System Kickstarter

Spartan Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their new Universal Modular Terrain System. Originally designed for 28mm, they plan on making it available for any scale system. Start with printed card floors and add resin and acrylic walls to add some vertical to your set. Finally, toss in some set dressing to add those final touches to make the terrain come alive (not, like, proper alive. That’d be some witchcraft stuff right there).

Prepare for Planetfall

Spartan Games has announced Planetfall, their new sci-fi minis game set in the Firestorm Armada universe.

PFBB01 cover art

From the announcement:

Spartan Games is hugely excited to announce the much-anticipated launch of Planetfall – a fast-paced, action packed game of massed 10mm armoured and infantry conflict set in the Firestorm Armada galaxy.

Devastating tanks, sleek aerial units, crushing artillery, orbital drop-ships and elite infantry forces fight over objectives, each side seeking to achieve their key objectives at the expense of the other. Planetfall uses an ugo-igo system, with an activation mechanism based around Helixes – the building blocks of every force. Games are tactical, combat is ferocious, and the gameplay engine is built around Spartan Games’ established Exploding D6 mechanic, making it fast and intuitive.
