Salute

If you're going to go an event, you should go in style. And style is just what they do over at Geek Nation Tours. They've started booking for their Salute 2019 tour. It's the biggest show in Britain, and GNT has more than just taking you to the show. They're going to show you all over the Mecca of gaming: Nottingham.

It's Thursday. You know, having had Monday off, this week is going by nice and quick. I know I'm looking forward to the weekend. Probably gonna swing by the semi-LGS (seeing as how no two places in Atlanta are closer than about an hour's drive from one-another, especially since all our roads are either going up in flames or sinking into the ground) to see what's going on there. But if I am able to make it out there, I'd like the gaming tables to look as good as possible. To help that along, here's some new terrain stories.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: Plastcraft Games Posts Salute Releases, Frost Grave Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame, Acheson Creations LLC Releases 2 New 15mm Medieval Products, and War Sands Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame.

Salute is coming up soon. It's an all-out, one day extravaganza. Think of a really huge gaming convention, and then cram all of it into a span of just a single day. That's Salute. And, obviously, such a big deal means that companies at the show have big deals of their own. Steamforged Games is showing off what they'll have.

Arguably the biggest painting contest of the year is the Crystal Brush awards that have their finals every March during Adepticon. If you'd like to get free travel to the show, you can do so by winning one of the qualifying events that are held throughout the year. Salute is having a Crystal Brush Qualifier event, and they've posted up the details.

As we all know, Salute was held last Saturday. As with many great conventions, there was a great painting contest to go with it. Well, the winners of said contest have been posted for you to check out.

The work week continues. We've made it over the middle and are working our way back towards the glorious, glorious weekend! Mine's going to be filled with prepping various articles for the next couple weeks. Lots of photos to take of models in various states of assembly. Fun stuff like that.

But in the meantime, we've gotta make sure your gaming tables look as good as they possibly can.

Today's Terrain Corner stories are: Deep-Cut Studio releases new Beach design gaming mat, Manorhouse Workshop Update #21 – 3D Bases – Kickstarter Preview, Lasercutcard: Infinity Table Deal, Things from the Basement Releases Frosty Line Of Terrain, and Frosty Ruins by Urban Construct at Salute.

So, Adepticon is going on now. Soon, though, Salute will be going on, and that, from what I hear, is just an entirely different convention animal. Someday I'd like to go. Well, Victrix is going, and they've posted up the special deals they'll be having. Plus, there's looks at the new Samnites.

The week continues on. We've made it halfway through. We might as well press on to the weekend. Turning back now would just be silly. But if we're going to make it, we should rest a bit and get some provisions. Thankfully, there's a group of bite-size stories here just waiting for us.

Today we have: Ainsty Castings Taking Salute Pre-Orders, Darklight Kickstarter - Gameplay Video Posted, Final Hours for Twisted Game on Kickstarter, Final Day for Traazorites Kickstarter, Brigade Games Launches Post-Apocalyptic Miniatures Kickstarter, and First Modern Canadian WIP from Full Battle Rattle Miniatures posted.

So... Guild Ball.
Guild Ball is going to have a team with a bear.
I want a Guild Ball bear.
... Do I know anyone headed to Salute?
And can I borrow £100?

Welcome once again to Tuesday, fellow gamers. Hopefully the start of the week has been treating you right. For those that were at Salute or KingdomCon over the weekend, I'm sure you're having a bit of a time getting back into the "regular swing" of things. But as you sit, potentially bleary-eyed from a weekend of gaming, we've got something that will help. We've once more collected together podcasts from the past week and present them to you now.

In this installment, we have: How I Geek #36 - Spotlight: Dungeons & Dragons Part I, Game Classy 86: An In-Depth Review of Assassinorum- Execution Force, Gamers Lounge ep. 107 – Boards and Miniatures, and The TerrainTutor Video from Salute.

Any of you gamers out there interested in 15mm Ancient warfare games should definitely stop by their booth. Their War & Empire range, that they successfully Kickstarted a while ago, is soon to be available to everyone, but those at Salute will be the first to get a chance to pick them up. Infamy is another vendor headed to Salute this Saturday, and they'll be bringing the Black Market with them. Not, like, the real black market, or I'm sure the Bobbies would be waiting for them. No, this Black Market is full of steampunk-inspired miniatures goodness. Many of the miniatures are pre-releases that won't be available for general retail until sometime next year. Those that can't make the show can also go online to make orders for certain figures as well, but only on Saturday. check after the cut for details.
They'll also have demos of their game, Welcome to the Big Smoke. Sign up early to make sure you get to try it out.

Victrix is getting ready for Salute this Saturday. The show only runs for one day, so they know people want to be able to get the things they want and then get to the next booth. As such, they're taking pre-orders for their products before the show. Then, all you have to do is stop by and pick them up. Just head over to their webshop and use the code Salute2015 and they'll remove any shipping charge (obviously, since they're going to hand it to you at the show). Multi-box deals and so forth are still eligible for show pick-up.

Freebooter Miniatures will be making their way to Salute in just over a week and they'll be bringing a load of new booty with them. They have a quartet of new Freebooter's Fate minis in the form of Jamon Borodino, Kasper, Piccina, and Lilith. They'll also be giving people a chance to try out their new Freebooter's Fate Battles combat system. It's designed to make it so you can play with more figures on the board, but still play quick as though you were doing a smaller skirmish.

Mantic will be making their way to Salute and they'll be bringing quite a lot with them. First off, they'll have Kings of War demos going on the Tablescapes Tiles they have from Secret Weapon Miniatures (Mantic's the exclusive distributor of those in the UK and Europe). You can also try out Dungeon Saga. For Mars Attacks, you'll be able to pick up one of the new Giant Martian Robot minis (though at 7" tall, it's not really a "mini"). Plus, they'll have demos of DreadBall and DreadBall Xtreme. Play a demo, get a £5 voucher to get a starter. Mantic will also be selling the last few minis from their Deadzone Kickstarter. If you wanted to get some of these special minis, but didn't have a chance before, you'll have one last one at the show.

Gripping Beast has posted up their new releases for Saga that they'll be bringing with them to Salute. The biggest announcement is the new faction they'll have. The Revenants are based on the myths and superstitions of the Middle Ages. But beyond that, they'll also have new building terrain pieces, some new cavalry units, along with the Spanish and Moors. If you want to make sure you get the figures you want, they recommend you e-mail them so they can have the figures with them at the show for you.

Critical Mass Games will be headed to Salute (which is on April 25th) and will have a bunch of minis and terrain along with them. But if you want to make sure they've got what you want, you can pre-order from their site and they'll bring it with them. They've also got some new releases for the show. Need some new walls to keep the enemy little mans out? They've got you covered.

Forge World will be one of the many vendors headed to Salute, the UK's premier gaming convention. They want to make sure that if you want to buy something from them that they'll have it on hand (because nobody likes going away disappointed and empty-handed). So to make sure they have what you want, they're taking pre-orders for the next week. Just tell them what you want and they'll bring it with them to pick up at the show.
