One of the most interesting periods in history, to me, is WWI. It basically set the stage for the world we have today. And one of the most important battles of that war was the Battle of Jutland when the British and German navies fought one-another off the coast of Denmark. Well, it’s been 100 years since that famous battle and Old Dominion GameWorks is having a sale on Fleet Action Imminent to commemorate the event.
It’s time once again for Friday. Now, normally, the week after a “short week” (such as last week) feels like they take forever. At least, to me they do. That’s why if given my druthers, I’d have a Monday off rather than a Friday. You get a long weekend and then a short week, as opposed to a short week, long weekend, then a regular week. But that’s me. Anyway, I’m happy to say that this week feels like it’s just flown by. Here we are already ready for a weekend. And baking fruitcake will be my reward.
But before we can get there, we have some business to attend to, such as a group of bite-sized stories we’ve collected over the past couple days. What sort of stories?
Ones like these: New Releases Available for Wolsung SSG from Micro Art Studio, Khurasan pre-release deal for 15mm late Cold War armour, Shark Day Miniature Available From Wonderlands Project, Krampus for Kaiju Kaos: The Miniatures Game Released, New releases for By Fire and Sword, Coming Soon – The Prometheans from Nexus Miniatures, Kromlech Legionary Thunder Gun with under-barrel Plasma Gun Now Available, Slavic Fantasy Miniatures Kickstarter by Deraj Studios has Launched, WH40k: Tactical Objectives App Release Date Announced, Post Captain Squadron Action Scenarios Posted, Bombshell Babes 2 on Preorder from Bombshell Miniatures, and Alexander Nevsky ready for Forgestarter campaign.
Or is it Friday Snippets, because I have the day off tomorrow? (and hopefully you do, too) Either way, it’s some bite-sized stories before we have lots more bites tomorrow for Thanksgiving.
And yes, I really am as jazzed about the holiday as it seems.
Anyway, today’s bites include: Lead Adventure Miniatures Release Bruegelburg Knights, Bombshell November Releases Posted, YooAmeGames preview their new card game Madness Skull, New website/store for Imaginative Miniatures, New Statuesque Pulp Alley Pre-Orders, Aegis Studios Releases Character Compendium 1 Under the Hero Kids Compatibility License, Notification of Results for the 2015 Windhammer Prize, Dark Art Studios Launches Forums, Announcing the First Wave of Scenarios for Post Captain, New Windfall Bases Available From Kromlech, Echoes Revealed for Shattered Earth’s Humanist Rebellion, Watchful I Studio proudly announces that it will be opening its webstore, Games Workshop Black Friday Deals Coming Soon, and New Hammer’s Slammer Detachment Packs From Brigade Models.
We’re halfway there, ladies and gentlemen. Halfway to the weekend. If you haven’t started making plans, now would be a good time. For those of you in the US, the 4th of July is Saturday. I’m sure cookouts will abound. And if you’re at one, why not bring along a game or two to play? There’s plenty of party games that would be most welcome at just about any gathering.
For me? I’m going to keep things low-key this weekend. I had two rather busy weekends in a row. So this weekend I’m going to stay at home and cook. What am I going to cook? … I’ve not figured that out yet. Suggestions would be welcome (and any accompanying recipes also welcome).
But as for right now, it’s time for some bite-sized stories.
This batch includes: Fury is funded with 24 day left, Some More Installments of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, New 32mm Resin bases (Tomb, Urban & Sci-fi Deck) from Dark Art Miniatures, Armorcast’s 4th Annual Cinematic Effects Contest is Here, Apex TDBG Expansion Kickstarter is now EU Friendly, Club Fantasci Editorial: Kickstarter Press Releases and Free Promotion, Old Dominion Gameworks posts Post Captain Bonus Ship files, Vending Bot free for July at The Ion Age, and Bullets & Brains Tokens Now Available from Sally 4th.
It’s Sunday. Here in the States, it’s Father’s Day. If you are a father, hope you have a great Father’s Day. If you’re not a father, I still hope you have a great day, regardless. As for me, I’m sitting here at the start of the last day of CMON Expo 2015. It’s been a great time. Very busy, lots of panels yesterday. I hope you enjoyed the reports of all the new stuff. I’ll get you a link to the other photo collections here in a minute from yesterday, and there will be some more today.
But anyway, for the moment, we’re getting together the bite-sized stories we’ve come across in the past couple days.
In this batch we have: Dragon Forge Tech-Deck Additions – Expansion Base Set Kickstarter Running Now, Pedion Wall System unlocked, New Dwarves Female Regiment 28mm from Scibor, Fantasy Concept Cards IV: Creatures and Treasures on Kickstarter Now, Dungeon Revolutions is available now from Thomarillion, Amber Portable Weapon and Gun Crew at The Ion Age, 28mm Satyr Group now available from Lone Gunman Games, Khurasan releases planet-killing space monster, Tabletop-Art Ancestral Ruins RL 30mm and 40mm Deals Available Now, Brigade Models – New 15mm Releases, Battle Flag : Cloth Battlemats for Wargames Indiegogo, Q-Workshop to Publish Shadowrun Dice, Secret Weapon Adds Five New Knight Bases, Manorhouse Workshop Launches Underground Terrain Kickstarter, Post Captain Master Index Pt 3 Shore Raids Chapters, and Heroic Maps – Modular Kit: Town – Streets & Houses.
We’re half there to back to the weekend.
This weekend will be a rather busy one. Tomorrow it’s set-up for the CMON Expo and Friday it starts. We’ve got a lot planned, especially for Saturday. Be sure to check back on that day regularly as we post updates from the various panels that’ll be happening that day. If you’re interested in CMON’s games, you’ll want to check back often.
But that’s this weekend. We’re still on Wednesday. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Right now, we’ve got another set of bite-sized stories.

It’s Sunday (at least at time of posting in much of the world… stupid time zones…). I hope you were able to get out and get some gaming on yesterday (or perhaps some today). My party did not get TPK yesterday. Though some party relations were strained a bit. Remember, everyone, communication is key.
Also, Fighters hate having to make Will saves.
But that’s as may be. We’ve collected some bite-sized stories over the past couple days and present them to you now.

Hey everyone. I hope your weekend is going well. My Saturday was spent with some good friends that I don’t get to see nearly enough, talking about glorious moments from games past, listening to some humorous gaming radio-plays, getting into wacky hijinks, and just generally being odd (while mostly listening to hair metal, because why not?).
As for today, it’s time to serve up some bite-sized stories to you.

Old Dominion GameWorks now has their Mein Zombie rules set available over in their webshop. Play out the zombie outbreak using whatever minis you might have available.
From the release:
MEIN ZOMBIE™ is a flexible and expandable 1:1rule system for recreating the massive Zombie infection. Designed to be used with miniature scales from 15 up to 28mm, it is based around our innovative Drop-ln TM game system. Players from novice to veteran will find it easy to customize the game to their particular gaming style.
This player-friendly approach to war gaming builds around solid and easily leaned basic rules, which present an excellent balance of playability and historical accuracy. Once you quickly lean the core rules, you simply “drop in” additional rule modules as you see fit Each Drop-In utilize the same terms and mechanics for entirely seamless integration into a full featured game system.
Old Dominion GameWorks has updated and revised their General Quarters naval wargame. Go check out the latest version and conquer the high seas.
From the update:
GENERAL QUARTERS THE THIRD EDITION is a fully detailed simulation of WW II naval warfare using an easy to learn, fast moving, playable system. It authentically simulates all the important aspects of naval warfare without becoming bogged down in tedious game mechanics and involved calculations. The detail has been built into the game tables and Logs to avoid your being swamped in a sea of minutia. Each player is a task force or division commander controlling multiple ships. Fire control and damage control are the responsibility of subordinates and hence simulated by die rolls so the players can remain focused on tactics, maneuver and damage control priorities. Combat results are quickly resolved and damage assessed so that the action keeps moving. Battles need only a couple of players and can be completed in a few hours allowing time for multiple engagements or participation in campaigns featuring the fog of war to outwit opponents. GENERAL QUARTERS has been a standard for more than thirty years. Now, THE THIRD EDITION is completely upgraded to provide a more detailed and realistic simulation with a “saltier” feel, while still retaining its signature playability. It features a “no odds” gunnery system with locational damage, enhanced damage control and a more intuitive and realistic torpedo system.
Old Dominion GameWorks has a bunch of new supplements for General Quarters III up and available over in their webshop.
From the announcement:
The Marine Nationale (French Navy) now joins the stable of fleets that have the highly detailed ship logs. Due the unique nature of the French Navy’s WWII experience, the logs are split into three sections:
Marine Nationale – Beginning of WWII to the Fall of France (June 1940). The entire French navy from the beginning of the war to the Armistice of 1940.
Vichy controlled Marine Nationale – June 1940 to November 1942 Those ships that remained loyal to the Vichy French Government.
Free French FNFL (Free French Naval Forces) – July 1940 to the end of the war. Those ships that joined the Free French from July 1940, plus the former Vichy ships that joined after the Torch landings and the fall of the Vichy government and those ships transferred by the Allies to Free French control.
Additionally, the never builts (like the battleships Clemenceau and Gascogne and aircraft carriers Joffre and Painleve) are included.
The deluxe ship logs are colorized and expanded to include the all classes and every ship plus those that were canceled or incomplete. Now available as digital downloads from the Download store.
Old Dominion GameWorks has released a new (and free) supplement to General Quarters III focusing on the Northern Navies.
From the release:
Old Dominion GameWorks is proud to announce the availability of an additional supplement to expand the navies for General Quarters III. This is our 2012 freebie download to GQIII registered owners.
The Northern Navies Supplement (NNS) made available all the major and minor navies that participated in WW II and 1930s naval combat. In addition to the major navies covered in GQ III, these supplements provide articles, Ship Logs, combat CRTs, aircraft Formation Cards, CD (Coastal Defense) Cards, etc. for the following navies: China, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Siam, Spain, Sweden, the USSR as well as the Cherry Trees (the major ships scrapped as a result of the Washington Naval Treaty). We believe this quite an unprecedented achievement. In each case, we provide ready-to use Ship Logs and Submarine Logs for each navy – far in excess of what other naval rules have provided. With the NNS, we have completed our coverage of the ’30s and ’40s, with the possible exception of the Greeks and South American navies.
The NNS specifically covers Denmark, Finland, Norway, Poland and Sweden. It begins with another fine article by Adrian Dobb and contains all the Ship Logs, Submarine Logs, and Formation Cards, CD Cards and CRTs and listings of small craft needed to cover all but the most elderly museum pieces. [And boy, did these navies have some museum pieces!] In addition to a hypothetical just for fun scenario between Finnish and Swedish armored coastal defense ships, the Supplement also includes five scenarios of major actions in the 1940 Norway invasion, along with a mini-campaign on Forcing the Oscarborg to seize Oslo. To support these scenarios, Mike prepared some great detailed maps of Narvik and Oslofjord and I added new Ship Logs for all the Kriegsmarine and Royal Navy ships involved as well as three sheets of merchant ships involved in the 1940 operations. Thus, the NNS provides considerable coverage of the 1940 Norway campaign in addition to the northern navies themselves.
