Mirror Box Games

In Greycastle, they have a somewhat unique way of picking who will be in charge. You see, it's not by heredity or by feats of strength, or by strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords. Instead, the leader is chosen from the various Guilds. The Guild Leader that brings the most honor and prestige to their guild becomes the King or Queen. That's the story behind The King's Guild, a new board game by Mirror Box Games up on Kickstarter now.
Guilds are sort of the corporations of the medieval world. They're looking to attract the best talent, have the best guild hall, create items that let them go out and perform quests which will earn them more money and prestige. Just, instead of coming out with the greatest smartphone or automobile, they're going out and slaying monsters and rescuing monarchy from towers. Creating the greatest guild of them all is your task in Guild Masters, a new board game up on Kickstarter.
People often ask me what my favorite part of working at TGN is. The answer is pretty easy. It’s getting to see new games as they’re in development and trying them out before just about anyone else. I’ve been doing this gig long enough now that games I tried out when they were early prototypes are now full-fledged games on the market. One of those games is Chaosmos from Mirror Box Games. I did a review of it back just at the start of their Kickstarter, and now they’ve sent me a final-edition copy to try out.
The universe is coming to an end.
... Party!... or Panic!... or... something, anyway.
In Chaosmos from Mirror Box Games, the universe is ending and the hunt is on! It would seem that the universe is a living organism (I think that makes us parasites living inside it... but I'm not entirely sure) and it is coming to the end of its life. However, hidden amongst the stars is the Ovoid. This odd artifact is believed to be a new universe in egg form. Plus, whomever is in control of the Ovoid at the very end, the new universe will imprint on them and the new universe will "imprint" on them, like a baby bird with its mother.
Hello again TGN Readers and welcome once more to Saturday. With any luck, you're gaming. I know I am. We've got one of our guys in my D&D game moving to Ohio this summer, so we're trying to get in as many sessions as we can before he goes.

As per usual, we've collected together various review articles we've found during the week and present them to you here now.

In this week's articles, we've got reviews/previews of: Roll for the Galaxy, Gruff, Alchemists, Chaosmos, Elysium, Arboretum, Battle Sheep, Ystari, Spike, Patchwork, XenoShyft, Salvation Road, Tide of Iron: Next Wave, Stones of Fate, and Dungeon Crawler Fantasy RPG Miniatures Sets 1 to 3.

Mirror Box Games has just over 2 days left on Kickstarter for their Chaosmos board game. They're closing in on yet another stretch goal for the game in the meantime.

From the campaign:

We're hours away from unlocking our biggest stretch goal of all – our final two aliens, Vlachlos the Destructor and Tertalje the Guardian!

Mirror Box Games has just launched their Kickstarter campaign for Chaosmos, their new board game. In it, different alien races are trying to find The Ovoid card, a sort of Universe Egg. The player holding that card at the end of the game is the winner and their alien race will be the Elder Race in the new universe.

They sent me a prototype version of the game to try out and give you my thoughts on the subject.

So grab your hyperspace flight plan and get ready for another TGN review as we take a look at Chaosmos.

Mirror Box Games has launched their Kickstarter campaign for Chaosmos, their new board game.
Stay tuned to TGN this afternoon for a review of this new game.

From the campaign:

Chaosmos is a 2-4 player card-driven strategy game with miniatures, playable in 60-90 minutes.

In Chaosmos, you are an alien on a desperate quest to find and secure the most important object in the history of the biocosm – The Ovoid. You'll traverse the galaxy, exploring planets and battling other players to build up a strategic hand of cards.

As you progress through the game, you'll gather weapons and tactical equipment that help you discover, gain control of, and protect The Ovoid. This mysterious artifact is your civilization's last hope for survival, and you will have to use deception, misdirection, and strategy to outwit your opponents and possess it at the exact moment the universe collapses! By carefully balancing your hand of cards, spending your turn actions wisely, and cleverly using your alien powers, you'll maintain a grasp on the state of the game while plunging everyone else into chaos.

Crits Happen posted up a video preview of the new Chaosmos board game from Mirror Box Games coming to Kickstarter soon.
