Well, the world’s once more come to an end. Damnit, Carl! I told you to not go out into the cold weather! Now there’s zombies, zombies everywhere! (… and not a drop to drink?) But while we sit here in our bunker, hearing all the cries of “braaaaaains!” from just outside, at least we can play The Walking Dead: Prelude to Woodbury from Mantic Games. And by “we,” I mean “me” because it’s a solo game and everyone else is a zombie.

Trident Realms Available For Pre-Order

There’s a lot of things that live out in the ocean. Whales, fish, squid, whale-fish-squid-men… It’s that last group that you should really worry about the most. But if you can take control of those fierce fighters, you can not only control the waves, but potentially the land, too. But how hard would it be to take over such a group? Actually, pretty easy. Mantic is taking pre-orders now for the Trident Realms forces for Kings of War.

We’re only 4 days away from the end of 2016. I know a lot of people are going to be very happy about that. Lots because 2016 wasn’t the greatest. Mantic Previews Trident Realm of Neritica Figures for Kings of War

Under the sea.
Under the sea.
You’re welcome. 😀
Anyway, there are creatures that live under the sea in the world of Mantica. Creatures with tentacles. Creatures with tridents. Creatures who don’t want to let those land-dwellers think that they’re all that and can just treat the ocean without the respect it deserves. Those creatures are part of the Trident Realm of Neritica. They’ll be coming to Kings of War tabletops next year, and Mantic’s giving us a bit of a preview.

Mantic Games Selling Limited Numbers of Kickstarter Edition of The Walking Dead: All Out War

Sometimes you just don’t have the ability to get in on a Kickstarter campaign while it’s running. You might miss the announcement or just not have the funds at the time or whatever other million reasons are out there. During the backerkit portion, you might still miss out. That’s always a bummer. Well, more rarely, you get a company with a couple extra of the Kickstarter edition of their game that they’re selling on their website. That’s what we’ve got here, as Mantic has an extremely limited number of The Walking Dead: All Out War Kickstarter Edition available to order in their webshop.

Review Roundup

Hey there, everyone. I hope you’re all having a great Saturday. I just got back from the grocery store (I’m typing this up a decent amount earlier than it is set to go live) so I can get ready to have some company over for a low-key Halloween party. I’m making cookies, chocolate-coated peanut butter balls, and gumbo. Should be a good time. I’m sure a lot of you have somewhat similar plans.

As for the moment, though, before I dive into a bit of last-minute cleaning and then work on cooking, let’s get you those gaming reviews I know you all so desperately desire.

This week we have: Bankers and Robbers, Dungeon Saga, Harry Potter Deck-Building Game, Conquest Games’ Medieval Archers, Mysterium, Aeon’s End, Love Letter: Premium Edition, Mortem Et Gloriam, The Networks, Eclipse: Shadow of the Rift, Tumult Royale, Necronomicards, Cthulhu Crusades, and Loony Quest.

Mantic Announces NaNoWriMo Contest

While I certainly am a prolific writer (23,346 posts here on TGN at the time this one goes live), I’m certainly not much of a storyteller. Or, at the very least, I type up ~10 stories a day, but most are about 2 paragraphs lone. I’m the master of the short-subject, I guess. 😀 What I’m not good at writing, though, is fiction. However, if you’re unlike me, and you are good at writing fiction, you might want to check out Mantic’s NaNoWriMo contest.

New Expansions Previewed For Star Saga

Mantic’s Star Saga Kickstarter campaign is getting close to the end. They’ve been doing great, busting through one stretch goal after another. People are certainly excited about getting their deep-space-dungeon-delving groove on. But, as always, there’s lots more that Mantic would love to add to the game. That includes two new expansions that they’d love to make it to in the time remaining.

Ironwatch Issue 50 Now Available

It was actually cold enough out yesterday that I put on my slippers for the first time this season. A friend of mine has their heat out. He lives in Denver. It was 39 degrees the other day. Sounds like a great time to curl up by the fireplace and read a gaming magazine while under a big, fluffy blanket. And Ironwatch Issue 50 is now available for your downloading and reading pleasure.

Mantic Adds The Fear in the Darkness Expansion To Star Saga Kickstarter

Even the biggest, baddest person you know can easily get freaked out by being plunged into total darkness. Suddenly being able to see what made that “bump” noise can cause chills to run down just about anyone’s spine. And in the Warpath universe, there’s plenty of things to fear that crawl and creep around in the dark. Enough so that Mantic’s adding a whole Fear in the Darkness expansion to their Star Saga Kickstarter campaign.

Mercenary Packs Added To Star Saga Kickstarter

The universe of Warpath is wide, filled with all sorts of colorful characters out to make their own name and be their own boss. These mercenaries add a lot of color to the setting and have been a big part of it since its inception. Well, Star Saga should be no different. As such, Mantic has created several add-on packs of Mercenaries for their Star Saga Kickstarter campaign.

TGN Exclusive Preview: Arkoline Artwork For Star Saga

Mantic Games has been doing rather well with their Kickstarter campaign for Star Saga. As I type this, they’re less than $2k from reaching $200k, which will be 2x what their original goal for the campaign was. As such, they’ve made it through several stretch goals (4 to be specific, soon to be 5). They’ve shown a bit for quite a few more, but right here is the first place we get a look at another one: Arkoline.

Mantic Launches Star Saga Kickstarter

Many of you have played Mantic’s dungeon-delving game Dungeon Saga. Some of you looked at it and went, “yeah… but I prefer sci-fi games.” Well, your time has come as Mantic has launched their Kickstarter campaign for Star Saga, their story-driven dungeon-crawl game, but now based in the cold vacuum of space and on hostile alien planets.

Review Roundup

It’s that time again, everyone. It’s Saturday. When you read this, it’ll be at least 2pm, Eastern. But for me, currently, it’s 5:30am. I’ve got a group of friends coming over for some gaming starting at 9am and have a bunch to get done before that. We’ll probably get in some Ascension, Blokus, maybe Dogs of War. All good stuff. Also, we’ll probably talk about characters for a D&D game that’s starting to coalesce. But that’s as may be, in the meantime, I need to type up your Review Roundup for the day.

Today we have: Arcadia Quest, The Pioneers Program, Dungeon Saga, The Hunt for the Ring, Tripods & Triplanes, Brides & Bribes, Terraforming Mars, Guild Ball, Cry Havoc, Flip City and Flip City: Reuse, Steam Time, M.U.L.E., Brick Party, and Snowdonia.

Mantic Games Announces Star Saga

Mantic has announced that they’re working on a new dungeon-crawler style board game. This one’s called Star Saga. Instead of some dark dungeon or dank cave, you’re headed out into the stars to fight baddies in derelict spaceships and planetary colonies. The game takes place in the Warpath universe, so I’m sure you can expect a lot of crossover with the various characters and lore that we’ve come to know.

Mantic Taking Orders For Kings of War: Historical Armies Book

The rules for armies in many fantasy games come from way armies waged war in real life. You had your rank-and-file soldiers who would move together in a column. There’d be archers or other fire-support units off to the sides. Cavalry would be a highly-mobile element in the battle. Artillery would do what it could to soften up enemy lines. So it seems only fitting that you could take fantasy army rules and use them to play historical miniatures games. At least, the folks at Mantic think so. They converted their Kings of War rules to work with historical forces and they’ve got the book for that up for order.

Ironwatch Magazine Issue 49 Now Available

From time to time, some gamers love to really go out and have a big game of their favorite minis game. We used to do it back in the day when I played 40k a lot. We’d push a whole bunch of tables together and just go at it. Well, a group of gamers did that with Kings of War, getting together over 100k points worth of figures. In this issue of Ironwatch, they give you the epic battle report.

Review Roundup

So, since I spend all my regular workdays gaming, I will often step away from it on my time off. You know, you don’t want to get burned out on a thing. However, last weekend and this, I’ve been all-out gaming just about every chance I can! Last week was game day at the Milton, GA. library. Yesterday a friend came over for some Guild Ball. Today I’m headed to another friend’s (and co-worker) house for more gaming, along with Italian beef and fresh-baked cookies.

So that’s what I’m doing. How about you (besides reading this article)?

Speaking of this article, this week we have: Deadzone 2nd Edition, Manhattan Project: Chain Reaction, Mission to Mars, Tumult Royale, Expo 1906, The Cohort, MODX, The Siblings Trouble, Super Motherload, 13 Days: The Cuban Missile Crisis, Fury Of Dracula, Dead of Winter, Potion Explosion, Dastardly Dirigibles, Apollo XIII, Snow Tails, Kune v Lakia, Deathbot Derby, Game of Train, and Ice Cool.

Mantic Gaming Hall & Shop Open for Visitors

Many of us have a favorite gaming spot. Whether it’s a gaming club, a FLGS, or just a friend’s living room, garage, or basement, there’s the spot where we get together with our fellow gamers to throw down. Well, there’s going to be a new spot available for you to get your gaming on: Mantic’s Gaming Hall. That’s right, Ronnie’s letting you “crash at his place” (metaphorically) and play some games.

Mantic Clearance Sale Happening Now

Warehouses are not infinite in size. They can, and often do, get filled up with things. This can be a problem when you’ve got a bunch of new, cool things you need to store in it. Mantic is running into that problem. Their warehouse is full, but they’ve got a bunch of new games on their way. That means they need to make some room. That’s good news for you.

Podcast Roundup

Yesterday, to get home from Gen Con, we drove for about 13 hours. We went from Indy to Atlanta via Memphis. We had to drop off a friend at his place. We’d picked him up on the way, too, but we split the trip into 2 parts. The way back was just one long burn down the road. Fun fact: There’s not really much to see driving from Atlanta to Memphis and then Memphis to Indianapolis. Whole lotta nothing right there. So having something good to listen to went a long way when conversation died down. If you’ve got a long drive coming up, or just a long day at the office, perhaps some gaming podcasts can help you out.

Today in our Roundup we’ve got: Geeks of the North Episode 32 – Cotton anniversary, World’s End Radio Episode #88 – The Rogue Traders, Adeptus Infernus 034, Through Gamer Goggles Gen Con 2016 Coverage 1: Blood and Plunder, News of the North – 2016-08-09, Who Cares Who Wins Bushido Special – with Chris and Chris (No Guild Ball), Mantic Radio – Episode 4, 40K Radio – Episode 3, and 40K Radio – Special Report – Codex: Deathwatch.

Gen Con Day 2 Photo Galleries

So, it’s coming up to 8pm. Day 2 is definitely in the books for Gen Con 2016. It’s been a very busy day. I’m tired, but still pretty amped about everything that’s gone on. And I’m sure you all would like to know about some of it. There’s been about a billion things to see. So, relatively, here’s a rather small percentage. More will come tomorrow.

New Pledge Level Added To DreadBall Kickstarter

The original Kickstarter for DreadBall was one of the first crowdfunding campaigns I’ve been a part of (and I’ve only been a part of 4, total). It was a pretty exciting thing, with lots of stretch goals getting me lots of extra parts and pieces. I also did add-ons for a few of the extras like Keepers. So, at home, I’ve got a fairly decent-sized collection of DreadBall bits. I know I’m not the only one like this. But, it seemed like if I wanted to get in on the new edition, I’d need to repeat a bunch of my old purchases. Not so anymore. Mantic has a new pledge level for us DreadBall veterans. They’ve also gone into more detail about what’s changed in this new edition.

And there’s the starting gun. Mantic has launched their Kickstarter campaign for their 2nd edition of DreadBall (taking full part in the Year of New Editions).
