Game of Thrones

Did you watch all of Game of Thrones? And I mean, really watch all of it? Like, several times and memorize all the minute details of the setting and characters? If so, you're probably going to win the Game of Thrones: The Trivia Game from Fantasy Flight. They've announced the new Season 5-8 Expansion pack.

It's Saturday. That means it's the weekend. That means I'm happy. Went grocery shopping this morning to get ingredients to make turkey soup as well as this year's fruitcake. Still need to get one last thing (that has its own theme song for the activity of getting it). That'll start getting ready today, while the final assembly will be tomorrow. What to do in the meantime? Maybe put together some Kingdom Death and play some Guild Ball. Also, give you the reviews you so desperately desire.

Today we have: Terraforming Mars, Adrenaline, Rubicon Models Panzer III, Star Wars Dobble (AKA - Spot It), Lord of the Rings The Card Game, Captain Sonar, Planet Rush, Fight for Olympus, Rollet, and A Game of Thrones: Hand of the King.

Fantasy Flight Games has a couple pretty big releases for you this week (and one middle-size one).
The king is having a feast. It will be the most grand feast anyone can ever remember. At this feast, he will be picking a new Hand, the person who will help with everyday running of the kingdom and be his most trusted advisor. You want to be in that position. Of course, you're not the only one. So you'll have to be shrewd, not waste a moment to back-stab an opponent, and get help from Varys, the Master of Whispers. That's the story behind Hand of the King, the new card game available from Fantasy Flight Games.
Don't lose your heads (or... other body parts...), but Fantasy Flight Games has announced a new card game based on A Game of Thrones. It's called Hand of the King and it pits the various houses of Westeros against one-another in order to become the real power behind the throne as the king looks to select a new Hand.
Spoilers: People die a lot in Game of Thrones.
I know, right!?! Who would've thought!?
Well, this is one where you're going to investigate exactly what happened. It's the classic game of Clue, set in the Game of Thrones universe.
If you're like most of my friends, you've not just watched Game of Thrones on TV, you've friggin' studied that stuff. You go frame-by-frame, analyzing everything and anything. You know who stabbed whom, where they were stabbed on their person, where they were in the world when it happened, why the person was stabbed, how deep the blade went in, and exactly how much blood came spurting out of the wound. You quite possibly know the blacksmith that made the sword that did the stabbing. If you're like that, then Fantasy Flight Games has a new gamem for you. It's the Game of Thrones Trivia Game.
Full disclosure: I haven't read any of the A Game of Thrones books or seen beyond the first season of the TV show. Though, obviously, I know the full zeitgeist that it is. My Facebook page is full of memes all the time based on the show. Some I get. Many I don't. But that's me. I know a lot of people love it (duh) and want to know everything about it. Well, one thing you'll want to know, then, is that Fantasy Flight Games has released their 2nd Edition of the A Game of Thrones LCG.
Welcome back to Saturday, everyone. With any luck, you're having some fun gaming with friends, or will be having such fun soon. I mean... it's Saturday. Gaming is just what you do!

But at the moment, what we are doing is looking at some review from the past week.

This batch we have reviews/previews of: Broom Service, Dragonwood, Res Publica: 2230, Murano, Viceroy, Dropzone Commander, Game of Thrones LCG 2nd Edition, Systema Gaming Base-0 Storage Silo, and Warlord Games' plastic M3A1 Half-Track.

Risk. It's a classic board game. I'd be safe to say that the vast majority of us have played it at one point in time or another. Some enjoy it. Others don't. That's fine. But generally at one point or another, we've had to deal with someone holed up in Australia. The game also has many variations. My personal favorite is Risk: 2210. Well, for those that like Risk and like Game of Thrones, there's a new version of the classic game coming out from USAopoloy that you might be interested in.
Fantasy Flight Games has announced that they're going to be coming out with a new edition of their popular Game of Thrones card game. After 12 years, Fantasy Flight is coming out with a second edition of the game. This was done with a look at ensuring the longevity of the game. Some of the old mechanics are a bit dated. The new edition looks to fix certain issues that come with a game that old, as well as serve as a jumping-on point for any new players that might want to get into the game. While the game still essentially plays the same, rules are streamlined and deck-creation rules are expanded to allow much more variety in deck styles for the game. You can check out a short trailer below the cut.
