Super Sunday Snippets

I know that gamers aren’t generally known for their sports knowledge, but you’d have to be willfully ignorant not to know that it’s Big Game time (because the NFL is about as litigious as GW, I’ll skip out on using the actual term for what’s going on today). That’s right, here in the US, our American Football championship is happening tonight. Wings, beer, nachos, giant sandwiches, and pizza will be consumed in mammoth proportions.

But before you head to your party, check out some these bite-sized stories.

This time we’ve got: More unlocks for the Fightin’ Fungi Kickstarter, a new release from Hitech Miniatures, New Knights Bundle from Kabuki Models, New Gaming Mats from Deep-Cut Studio, New Mine Tunnel Terrain from Heroic Maps, NOVA 40K Qualifier offered at TotalCon 29, New Previews Posted for Alternative Civil War, New 15mm Houses from Tabletop-Art, New Drunk Goblin Guard from Rebel Minis, and Ludus Magnus Studios announced their relaunch date for Nova Aetas.

From the post:

This is pretty close to be finished. What do you think of the texturized surface? Isnt very common in miniatures, but we believe it gives it a nice “handcrafted and battered” feel.

From the campaign:

“Alternative Civil War is a 28mm scale miniature wargame set in an alternate background where impossible science collides with ancient magics and weird beings clash with courageous soldiers on the American Civil War battlegrounds.”

This is a skirmish game of metal miniatures of the finest quality cast by the best professionals in the industry. The game ranges from 6 to 16 models per side. The rules are easy but with a deep tactical component, using one or two 20 sided dice to resolve the actions in a single roll. An elegant system of alternating activations will keep both players on the edge, avoiding long waits while your opponent finishes his turn and creating a swift and dynamic battle.

The game incorporates the mechanism of a Tactical Impulse Pool: a limited resource that will grant you benefits such re-rolling, gaining additional Impulses or activate skills. Players will wonder where and when commit their resources.

Bernohn talks to Ghosts… and trains

Bernohn sat down and talked with the fellows at Ghost Train Games about their Alternative Civil War game they’ve been working on.

Source

From the interview:

About two months ago in one of the many Facebook groups I am subcribed to, it appeared a publication of a new game with a western aestetics and no more information. As many of this new games coming out, it is from Spain, and as most of these Spanish games, they have a high quality miniatures. I contacted them for an interview and they agreed with pleasure. Before the interview, I read the rulesystem of the game and the truth is that I liked it. It has a system simmilar to the AROs from infinity system, but we’ll see that it has a different origin. The setting of the game is in the mid-nineteenth century, in a world a little different (more fantastic, more interesting for me too).By the time I got to know the game, and set up the interview had not yet painted miniatures , today we are already seeing quite a few models with a level of very good painting. But let our guests today speak of their creation, with you the friends of Ghost Train Games.

WIP from Ghost Train Games of another model for ACW: 1861

Ghost Train Games shows off another of their WIPs for Alternative Civil War in their latest update.

Source

From the preview:

Here’s an almost final WIP for the next model concept to be released.
We’re not yet sure of its name: We’re discussing around “The Doomed Rifle”, “The Cursed Rifle”, “The Bedeviled Rifle” and I personally like “The Black Halls” or “The Bedeviled Halls”. Would you like to help us to decide it? Check out the discussion at our Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/GhostTrainGames) page or send us a message with your opinion via Twitter (@GhostTrainGames) or email (ghosttraingames@gmail.com).

The model itself is not the guy but the gun. It is a M1819 Halls, one of the first breech-loading rifles, that participated in the Mexican-American War where it was infused by a malevolent spirit.
The Halls starves for lifes and souls, turning its wearer into a raving maniac that neglects its own safety in order to provide the weapon with its grim harvest. When the miserable man falls in battle, which ussually don’t take too long, the malignant ghost compels another poor soul to carry it and continue the slaughter.

Ghost Train Games previews The IMLS for ACW: 1861

Ghost Train Games posted up a green for the Improved Mechanical Locomotive Steampack.
Looks like a fun way to spend an afternoon or to make the morning commute not so annoying.

Source

From the preview:

Based on the genius work of Doctor Atticus Johann Weintraub, the IMLS (Improved Mechanical Locomotive Steampack) are designed and built for speed. It turns foot soldiers into a cavalry force allowing the to run as fast as a horse and jump great distances. Albeit much more expensive to field than the animals, they provide a smaller and harder to hit target to enemy fire, are more reliable as it depends only on the man and their jumping capacities provide a key element to assault enemy elevated positions and fortifications. They can only operate small firearms, such as pistols and shortened shotguns, as they need a free hand for the controls but are lethal in the short distance, closing quickly before the muskets and rifles can take tax of their range edge.

Franklin Experimental Brigade’s Coil Projector is one of the many arms innovations of the Union for the War.
The FEB is comprised of fearless veterans with a proven military background and a burning zealotry for the cause of the Union.
These soldiers wade into battle clad in specially quilted uniforms, engineered to prevent the electrical currents they harness from backfiring onto the wielder. On their backs, they carry bulky power packs that store the energy needed to fire their weapons.
