General George Armstrong Custer is a name that most people who went to school in the US will recognize. He’s known for Custer’s Last Stand, an attack against the Sioux Indian tribes that didn’t go well for the 7th Cavalry. The charge that they thought was against a small band turned out to be an assault on the middle portion of a much larger force. In Pub Battles: Little Bighorn, you can recreate those events in miniature on the tabletop and possibly change the results, depending on your choices during the game.
In the game, one player takes on the role of the 7th cavalry while the other plays the head of the Sioux forces. However, both sides armies aren’t entirely set at the start of combat. They are picked in secret and only revealed once contact has been made. So, why not always go with the biggest force you can possibly field? Because the win conditions change depending on what you choose to take into the battle. The less you take, the easier your win conditions. So you’ll have to balance between having simple and relatively easy-to-meet win conditions versus having more forces on your side to command.
The Kickstarter campaign’s already over their funding goal. So it’s on to stretch goals for the next 20 days.
