Privateer Press shows off Mountain King

Privateer Press has the new Colossals for Warmachine. Well, here’s the first one being shown off for Hordes: the Trollbloods Mountain King.
That’s-a one big troll!

From the preview:

They say good things come to those who wait. I say waiting is overrated. So we are doing Friday’s Insider a little early this week!

Say hello to the Mountain King!

  • Veritas

I thought Mulg was supposed to be the biggest dire troll?

    • Urlock Gaur

Guess he’s not a dire troll.

  • Lemminkaeinen

This one is the best of the big things that PP has released. It has a good amount of detail and looks very imposing.

  • Urlock Gaur

    Looks like he creates Whelps.

  • Tamwulf

If ya read the Whelps description, they kind of spring out of Troll beasts.

What really impresses me about this guy- that is a 5″ base he is standing on. As in, that mini is standing on a base the size of a CD, and he dominates the entire base, hangs over it a bit, and is easily 8″-10″ tall. HUGE!

  • begisle

Not a fan of the sculpt.

  • arcturus

Love the look of this guy. It is kind of a bummer for Mulg to no longer be the biggest, but I do like the walking mountain! Aside from the whelp coming out of his shoulder, which I think distracts a bit from his profile, I really like the model a lot.

  • CaffeineBoy

There’s a lot to like here — the scale is amazing if nothing else. But for a big awakened mountain/force of nature/Dhunia’s revenge kinda beasty, it’s a bit too… trolly for me. I could also do without the Skornesque flourishes, the piercings and shackles and such. I’d rather it had more rock stickin’ out all over the place instead.

I dunno. I’ll have to read the backstory before I say any more.

  • mathieu

I like the overall design of the model, I like the amount of details on it (PP is finally doing quality resin sculpts!), and if the casting quality is decent, I think I will also like painting it.

  • skullking

The model is gorgeous! Can’t wait to see it in person.

    two things though,

I agree with those who feel as though Mulg was the one we always considered the biggest of the Trolls, but as others have pointed out, he’s just the biggest DIRE troll, and this is a whole different species. I felt the same way about the Khador Behemoth, it’s no longer the biggest bot on the table. Oh well.. With the Trolls they didn’t have much choice. It kind of had to be a troll of some sort. At least it looks great!

Also, Although it’s cool to see. Shouldn’t we be seeing the Retribution/Menoth/Merc Colossals first? C’mon PP finish one book, THEN start the next one. I would hope all the Warmachine colossals are out before we begin the trickle of Gargantua, I realize you don’t want the Hordes fans to get bummed out seeing all the cool Colossals, but I assume the hordes book comes out at the end of the year, which isn’t too far off anyway. And realistically, most of us Warmachine fans play both games.

Now, lets see that Skorne Mammoth!!
