It was a rainy Monday here in GA. Not the way a lot of people like to start off the week, I’m sure. Honestly, I love the rain. Had a good thundershower overnight, too. That was rather nice. As for today, we’ll see how it goes. I do know that there are plenty of podcasts you can listen to, if you don’t have the gentle rain and rolling thunder to listen to.
Today we’ve got: The Polyhedron Collider Cast From Airecon 2018; Epic Gaming Night Podcast: Patron Hang out!; Guild Ball Tonight Episode 78: The Boys From Ipanema; The Cardboard Herald Episode 71: Alex & Mike of What The Film?! & Lethal Chicken Games; Lords of the Dungeon 13: Bender’s End of the World Game, Repairing a Fractured RPG Group and Dark Earth 1899 Update; SAGA THORSDAY Episode 81: Battle Report – Vikings vs Anglo-Danes; Blue Peg, Pink Peg Bonus Episode: Designer Deep Dive- Imperius by Grant Rodiek; Scanners Offline Episode 5: Battle for Tlalacon; and News of the North – 2018-03-20.
At Airecon 2018, the Polyhedron Collider Cast were joined by representatives of No Pun Included, JTR Podcast, Board Game Opinions, Unlucky Frog Gaming, Creaking Shelves, The Broken Meeple, I Play Red and the Game Pit. In front of a live audience we posed them a host of random question drawn from the hat submitted by our listeners and Airecon visitors.
A big thank you to everyone involved
We have a patron hang out and talked to some of our awesome patrons!
Bill and Phil set out to talk about a lot, but in the end they spent so long talking about errata and gameplan cards that they ran out of time for the rest. Come for the news, stay for the light jazz.
We do a quick turnaround, recording an episode on Tuesday and posting on Wednesday with Alex Mackey & Mike Szalajko of What The Film?! which is up on kickstarter right now. This was particularly interesting to me, not only because of their extremely well produced kickstarter video, but because I don’t typically talk to people about party games. So we talk about just that – why party games?
Today the Lords talk about Bender’s first attempt with the End of the World role playing game and digress into all sorts of nonsense. Then they announce the winner of the Dungeons and Dragons starter kit contest. They the gang talks about how they’re fixing a couple of issues with their game group. Finally they give you an update on their Dark Earth 1899 campaign.
Rodge here. Welcome to SAGA THORSDAY – your weekly source for Saga the miniatures game content! This week we delve into our first 2nd edition battle report! My Anglo-Danes versus Aaron’s Vikings!
During this Designer Deep Dive, we speak with Grant Rodiek (designer of Cry Havoc, Hocus, and more) about his upcoming title by Kolossal Games, Imperius. Imperius is a card drafting, bluffing game where players play cards in order to exert strength and earn favor and in support of their efforts to gain victory, capture control, and avoid assassination. We talk to Grant about his design theories and practices as well as the art and craft of board game design. This in-depth and illuminating conversation focuses upon the design of a single board game, exploring everything from design philosophy, prototyping, play-testing, presenting an idea to publishers, and bringing a a design to production (or in this case, kickstarter).
