Happy birthday, mom!
I know she doesn’t read the site, but still.
It’s also Tuesday, so that means we’ve got the work week underway. Just gotta keep chugging along and we can make it to another weekend. In order to help that, here’s our weekly collection of podcasts.
Today we have: Game Classy Episode 151: DeckBuilding; The Polyhedron Collider Cast episode 33: Kickstarter; Epic Gaming Night Podcast Episode 134: Questions!; Drive Thru FM Episode 9: PAX Unplugged Breakdown; Guild Ball Tonight Episode 71: Hot Takes with Bill; Plan of ATK! Episode 16; The Secret Cabal Express 33: Mystery Television Series; The D6 Generation Episode 226: Fight In a Box Update & PAX Unplugged 2017; and The Cardboard Herald Episode 56: Kenna & Rich of Going Last – Live at PAX.
Honestly I’m pretty sleep deprived lately, I have no idea what we talked about. I’m assuming it’s some warhammer stuff.
The boys discuss Kickstarter and the effect it’s had on tabletop games. We discuss the best board games we’ve backed, the ones that have been lacklustre and those we regret not backing. Via questions from our listeners we also look at how Kickstarter has effected the gaming industry and muse over if the bubble will burst.
What we have been playing?
(Roy) Planet Defenders, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong
(Rob) Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle, Modern Art
00:00 – Introduction (and some housekeeping) 07:34 – PAX Unplugged Breakdown 49:20 – Game of the Show 56:02 – Final Thoughts (and BGG vs PAXU)
In this week’s episode:
1) The Pegs are joined by spectacular Marty & Tony of Rolling Dice & Taking Names as we discuss Pax Unplugged, and their recent game plays including The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31, Azul, Troyes;
2) Review the tile laying game Whistle Stop and;
3) Revisit Mystic Vale.
On this interSteamcon episode we get to find out what Bill thinks of all the news and notes from one Steamcon, and what we’re looking forward to at another Steamcon.
Simon Berman returns from his international adventures and joins Laurie for another round of Plan of ATK! In Episode 16, we focus on the newly released Necromunda from Games Workshop. An old friend visits the podcast once more to share his hobby master techniques and experiences with Sector Mechanicus terrain. Chris Walton, always a delight, waxes nostalgic with us over the Necromunda release!
In Express #33, Chris and I are taking a break from the gaming and talking about mysteries, what makes good ones, what we like about them and then discuss some of our favorite modern mystery television shows!
Seppy Yoon, of Fight in a Box, joins us in the 3rd chair!
Up first we get an update on all Fight in a Box has been up to recently.
Later, both Seppy and Russ attended the very first PAX Unplugged. What did they think and what made it unique?
I got a chance to meet up with two of my favorite podcasters, Rich and Kenna of Going Last, live at PAX. It was a blast to talk about the con, games, and bizarrely, the Cuban missile Crisis. If you haven’t checked out their stuff, you absolutely should, they set the bar in informative, entertaining, and welcoming gaming podcasts. If you are excited for more PAX coverage, we got all kinds of stuff going up on the podcast and youtube channels, and if you have any questions or just want to start a flame war, you can always find me on twitter @cardboardherald, or email me at [email protected]
