Robert Kingery of Darkson Designs is participating in the Pat Tillman Shadow Run on April 9th and is looking for help to raise funds for the charity.

From their website:

Robert Kingery of Darkson Designs will be doing the Pats Run on Saturday April 9.
Family and friends created the Pat Tillman Foundation in 2004, following Pat’s death while serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan.

Created to honor Pat’s legacy and pay tribute to his commitment to leadership and service, the mission of the Pat Tillman Foundation is to invest in veterans and military families through education and community.

With the efforts of Team Tillman Pat’s Run members and the generous support of Pat’s Run participants, volunteers, sponsors and donors the Pat Tillman Foundation strives to increase the amount of funds awarded nationally each year to Tillman Military Scholars to $3.6 million, to represent the NFL contract Pat walked away from when he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Please help and donate any amount you can.

Considering the lies and cover-up by the US military over the friendly fire death of Pat Tillman, and the anguish his family went through trying to discover the truth, why would anyone want to honor his death is such a way as to encourage others to follow his example? Why support honoring a military system that lied and used his death for cheap recruitment purposes?

Question–Are Pat Tillman family on totally board with this? Because from what I know they were pretty angry about the whole affair, and I cannot imagine them supporting such an activity that saw Pat’s “commitment to leadership and service” so badly misused and perverted by the military he gave fealty to.

I suspect that you haven’t read the Pat Tillman Foundation website to see what their mission statement is.

Question–Are Pat Tillman family on totally board with this?

Question – Is there any reason why you can’t just Google the answers yourself? I did it on my iPad while trying to start cooking dinner so it wasn’t really difficult to find info.

The foundation is headed by Pat’s wife and its mission is support and education for members of the US military.

Next time you have a question try to look the answers up yourself please.

You are absolutely right. I jumped to a conclusion, and made a fool of myself with my remark. I should have done my homework first. I let my anger over how Tillman and his family were treated over-ride by common sense. A simple check, as you said, would have prevented me from posting.

I apologize for casting doubt over the legitimacy of the fundraiser.

          Thanks

Its also quite easy to be against the treatment of soldiers in general and still run a charity aimed at helping them. In this case it appears that the Pat Tillman Foundation focuses on providing educational support for current and past military members.

I can’t imagine that his wife didn’t know of or even share Pat’s opinions about Iraq and the war there so perhaps part of this is a way to help those people that Pat fought with.

  • Nothing like turning something positive into something negative. Thanks.
