The week rolls along. It’s been a busy one for me, occasionally getting to the office at 4am to get started on various articles, proofing projects, and, of course, making sure you get the news. But today wasn’t so bad. I got here at the regular 5:45am, as I usually do. 😉
Also, it was pointed out to me that “I’ve not” and “I haven’t” are the exact same thing.
So, we’ve got a new edition of 40k coming out in a couple days. Let’s make sure your gaming tables look as good as possible for when you start throwing down.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: Industrial Ruins Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame, WWII German Town Kickstarter Happening Now, and Heroic Maps – The Duke’s Stronghold Now Available.

So, the Germans have invaded Britain as part of Operation Sea Lion. However, the British put up a significant defense and have actually driven the Germans back to the sea. Now, Kent is the only place left under German occupation. Not wanting to give up, the German High Command has launched Phase Two of the invasion, nicknamed Gigant. It’s this new “What if…?” scenario you can play out in Bolt Action with the Operation Sea Lion: Phase Two: Gigant book, available to pre-order now.

In this day and age, you’ve gotta be economical about your gaming purchases. And if you’re like me, you don’t have space to hold dozens of game boxes. Also, you want to be able to have games that cater to a lot of different size groups. What’s nice, then, is one small box (or in this case, tin) that contains several games, designed to handle vastly different player sizes. Junggle , just announced by Z-Man Games, is just that. It’s five games in a single package.

It’s murder most foul! Mostly because the Thames river’s not exactly the cleanest place in Victorian England. Ew. But along with murder, there’s plenty of other crimes happening in the streets of London to keep a detective busy. That’s where having some extra eyes behind magnifying glasses comes in handy. And that’s what you’ll be doing in Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective. The Thames Murders and Other Cases expansion is coming out soon, and Asmodee has posted up a little preview of the first case out of the box.

The elves in Western Immoren have had quite a time of it lately. Their gods had disappeared. Their kids were being born without souls. Cthulhu Dark sounds like it might be a new blend from a board game cafe for one of their coffees, or perhaps a dark chocolate dessert. But, in actuality, it’s a new horror RPG that’s up on Kickstarter. This is horror role-playing cranked up to 11. You thought you could handle this sort of stuff, but it’s quite possible you can’t. How long will you be able to survive in a setting that actively is looking to freak you out of it?

Awful Fantasy is running a Kickstarter campaign for their new cooperative card game, Epic AF (the AF stands for Awful Fantasy… what’d you think it stood for?). In it, players take on the role of great warriors from all over the realms… or just some magician that got pulled along because they thought he was a wizard. Seriously, the backstories for the characters are pretty funny. You’ll go on adventures into dungeons, or try to solve mysteries, or all the other stuff you’d usually do as an adventuring group.

You’ve often heard me talk about how it’s always good for a DM/GM to have access to pre-made items to make running their games go more smoothly and so they don’t have to create everything for their game from whole cloth. Well, the One Shot Compendium is just such a thing. It’s not just a couple adventures, but 30 of them. They’re formatted for 5th Edition. They’re up on Kickstarter now.

Life in the antarctic is tough enough as it is. The cold, the wind, the possibility of being lost in a white-out. Throw in an alien looking to assimilate all of humanity and things get just that much worse. Double that when the alien can perfectly mimic anyone it touches. Who can you trust? Who should you burn? That’s what you’ll have to figure out in The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31, a new game coming from USAopoly and Mondo.

Sometimes you want to just jump into a whole army at once. None of this, “just get a single unit and see how it goes” sort of thing. You jump in, head-first into the deep end. Well, that’s what you can do with the Troglodytes faction for Godslayer, as Megalith Games is running a special whole-army deal in their webshop.

Most of us have an LGS. Hopefully, it’s a good one. The game stores that dot this planet are what keep the gaming community going. I know I wouldn’t’ve probably continued with gaming if I’d not had some absolutely awesome shops that I gladly called my second home. Retailers and companies want to have a good relationship so that everyone benefits. So that brings us to USAopoly coming out with a new Retailer Support Program.

I know this post is going up at 2pm. But I’m not actually typing it at 2pm. I’m sure you all know that I’m not really frantically typing out posts and making sure to hit the “publish” button right as the hour strikes. No, I get these things put in ahead of time… so I can be frantically typing on some other article I need to write or working on a proofing project or something. 😛
And while doing those other things, I’ll tend to listen to some gaming podcasts. Like which? Like the following…

Today we have: Masters of the Forge: Altar of War Episode 4: Tidebringer Assault; Nerdherders Episode 16 (106): Arcade (on) Fire!; Mantic Radio Episode 10; After Ullanor Episode 11; It Will Not Die Episode 20: Ulterior Motives in Frostgrave; The Polyhedron Collider Cast Episode 26: The Great UK Games Expo Caper Part 1; Epic Gaming Night Podcast Episode 109: Kickstarters; Gamers Lounge Episode 138: Star Wars Rebellion & Legacy Campaigns; The Rolistes Episode 21: Tu Vuo Fa Il Ruolista (at Stratagemma, Florence); Rolling Dice and Taking Names Episode 120: Lorenzo il Magnifico, Emerson Matsuuchi (Century), Honshu, Element; The Cardboard Herald Episode 31: Jonathan Ying, former FFG in-house designer; The Secret Cabal Episode 136: Railroad Revolution, Railways of the World and a Short Topic Extravaganza; SAGA THORSDAY Episode 41: Irish Battleboard and Tactics Pt 1; Tales of Malifaux 57; Man Battlestations Episode 19: Battle of Midway 75th Anniversary; and Pint ‘O Comics: Any Good Game Is Gonna End In A Fist Fight.

I’ve always been more of a “dog person” than a “cat person.” And within that, I’ve always preferred the larger breeds (German Shepherd and Great Pyrenees) to the smaller ones. However, if I could get a Leonx and have it as a pet, yeah, I’d probably want to ride it into battle, too. Well, the Latari Elves in Runewars have Leonx, and they do ride them into battle, and you can soon add them to your Runewars forces. Take a look at how they’ll work in this preview.

We’re always looking to improve ourselves. Maybe we want to lose a little weight, or learn to play an instrument, or get better at juggling geese. Human Interface: Be a Better Human is more about… well… escaping from a megacorporation’s illegal prison, gathering evidence of their nefarious dealings along the way. So, you know, still bettering yourself, but in a slightly different way. The game is a standalone game, but can also be used as an expansion for Human Interface: Nakamura Tower. The game’s up on Kickstarter now.

Well, in Bio-Logic: Microscopic Domain, players delve into the world of sicknesses, but it’s not with the intent to cure. No. They will be playing as pathogenic superbugs, looking to do as much damage as possible. The game is up now on Kickstarter.
