Quite a few of you have tried Pathfinder over the years. Well, if you prefer your RPGs more in the “far future and another galaxy” type, Paizo is looking to oblige with Starfinder. Well, Soda Pop Miniatures is making official figures for the game, and they are taking pre-orders for those now.

Goblins aren’t really known for their long-term planning skills. They’re very much more “in the moment” types. So, when a bunch of gold and jewels were found literally under their feet, they started digging mines. However, those mines aren’t the safest place to be, and the ceiling is starting to crumble. It’s a race to grab as much as you can before everything suddenly sees the light of day (for all the wrong reasons). That’s what’s going on in Off the Rails, a new board game that’s up on Kickstarter now.

Steve Jackson Games’ Ogre was one of my first forays into gaming. I remember cutting apart the little chits from the “VHS Box” version of the game. Heck, my screen name for a while was OgreMkV on various media. I know it’s been a big part of many other gamers’ lives. Well, Steve Jackson is looking to continue support for the setting via the Ogrezine, a collection of Ogre articles. The project is up on Kickstarter now.

AEG has a couple new products coming out in August. They’re both part of their Big in Japan line. One is Unicornus Knights, a game where players must work together to help the princess of their country to overcome an invading army. The other is Custom Heroes, where players are trying to empty their hands of cards first by playing sets of cards with a greater value than the set played before.

Is anyone else announcing as many game releases as WizKids is right now? It feels like almost every day I’m seeing a new announcement from them. That’s not any sort of condemnation of it, mind you. Just more of a, “whoah, they’re coming out with more? Alrighty!” Anyway, this time around it’s Time Barons, a combat card game where players are combating one-another to become the one and only Time Baron.

Yesterday seemed to go by quick. Being busy will do that. And there’s very little time of year that I’m busier than the weeks leading up to Gen Con. So, while everything I’m doing is revolving around gaming right now (even moreso than usual), there’s still some room for more, such as gaming podcasts.

This week we have: Man Battlestations Podcast Episode 21; SAGA THORSDAY Episode 49: Swedish Spotlight; Mantic Radio Episode 12; The Secret Cabal’s The Gen Con 2017 Pre-Show Spectacular; The Secret Cabal Episode 140: The Godfather Corleone’s Empire, Mare Nostrum Empires and The Secret Cabal Playlists; Epic Gaming Night Podcast Episode 117: Miniature Madness!; Singled Out Episode 42: Newbie Mistakes 3; Rolling Dice & Taking Names Episode 124: Summit – The Board Game, Skyward, Isaac Vega, and The Scurry Report; The Cardboard Herald Episode 39: Andrew Birkett of Atheris Games at Dice Tower Con; Blue Peg, Pink Peg Episode 104: Sentient and GenCon 2017 Preview; Meeples & Miniatures Episode 223: Sword & Spear Fantasy; and News of the North – 2017-08-08.

WWII continues on. Each side is looking to find that one advantage that will finally bring the conflict to an end. However, a new faction is joining the fray. The Popular Liberation Army out of China is hitting the battlefield. This is certainly a new thing that commanders of the other forces will have to take into account.
At least, that’s what’s going on in the world of Dust. They’re giving us a look at what new releases they are going to have at Gen Con.

I wish I knew, like… every language. Just think of all the cool games that would open up! For example, I don’t know Polish. As such, I can’t currently play Zaklinacze. However, my uni-linqual self will soon be able to give it a shot, as it’s being translated to English as Enchanters. The fantasy card-drafting game is up on Kickstarter now.

In the fantasy battles all across Terrinoth, you might not want your opponent, with their swords and spears, to get all that close to you. Those things can hurt! As such, it’s not a bad idea to reach out and attack at a distance. That’s what the Heavy Crossbowmen are here to do, and they’re ready to punch through enemy armor while hopefully soaking up whatever long-distance attacks your opponent can dish out, too.

Getting stranded on an island out in the middle of the ocean is pretty terrible. Thankfully, there’s a small amount of resources to be found. There’s only one issue. There’s not quite a lot of food. Hey… did you ever realize that you kind of look like a ham sandwich?
WizKids has announced a new card game called Who Should We Eat. In it, players will be looking to create a raft and collect supplies in order to get off an island. However, along the way, they’ll also be looking to sabotage one-another in a rather Donner-Party sort of way.

They’re certainly not going to the show empty-handed. They’re bringing new items for pretty much every one of their lines. You’ll be able to check them out at the GF9 booth before they’re released later this year.

So, assuming you like the rules, you then go and pick up a force for yourself. In T.I.M.E. Stories, players are sent to ancient lands and exotic locations. This time, they’re going to that far-off time of… uh… 1982. … That’s how you know you’re old, kids, when a game is like, “we’re going to send you way back in time, to this time where the person that’s writing this article was alive.” Thanks, everyone. Anyway, agents are being sent to check out 1982 California. And, as one would expect, it’s not for the younger audience. That’s what’s going on in Estrella Drive.

That usually has to deal with required ordering numbers and minimum purchases and such. Well, one shop owner has decided that the way it’s done has gone too far. They’re suing Games Workshop for $62.5 million.

That’s, in a way, what you’ll be doing in Windup War, a new game from Bellwether Games. In it, players will create forces of three units and plan out their moves in advance using different cards. The actions are revealed simultaneously, as everyone plays out their programs. The first player to score 3 points (or the last one with units on the table) is the winner. You can pick up your copy now.
