The WizKids blog has a new post looking at several preview of figures from the forthcoming DC HeroClix The Brave and The Bold expansion.

    From their website:

Let’s recap what you know about The Brave and The Bold: in comic and hobby stores on April 12th 2010, 55 new figures, including Alter Egos like Clark Kent / Superman, and duo figs like The Flashes with awesome new special powers. We received a bunch of production samples (figures pulled from the first run of boosters at the factory to check for quality) here at WizKids HQ. I took new photos of figures which we had released earlier images of.

Wells Expeditions have posted the first Alternative Unit Stats for Arcane Legions.

    From their website:

It’s that time – we’ve released our first alternate stat figures. Meet Mechanist Savros and the new Terracotta Strikers, live in the unit builder. See them in action here: http://arcanelegions.com/basecards/7213.

Now, we know these changes aren’t earth shattering – some small stat tweaks and ability shifting. Remember that this is new for us as well, so we’re experimenting. You know, baby steps. Expect more dramatic alternate stats in the future, and for now enjoy a healthy dose of Artificer.

Thanks to everybody’s discussion in the thread on alternate stats and spacemonkeymafia’s suggestion on Savros (and anybody else that may have suggested something similar). We’re still listening, so more suggestions are always welcome.

MERCS Miniatures will soon be offering the first of their KemVar miniatures for pre-order.

    From their website:

KemVar, as has been rumored on these very forums, is indeed releasing for pre-order Wednesday, February 10th. We will post images in the forums the same afternoon, with the updated store going live at 8:00 EST. The figures will be in production by then and we will be able to tell you exactly when they’ll ship.

The store will be broken down several ways:

    • As always you can purchase single miniatures.
    • We will have a KemVar Squad deal: this is just the figures.
    • We will also have a KemVar Squad deal with the t-shirt: this is the set with the KV t-shirt. The MERCS online store is the only place you can get the shirt. We have a limited (and I mean limited) number of shirts. First come. First serve.
    • We also will have the MERCS MegaCon Deal, which is both the CCC and KemVar squads in one purchase at an awesome price.

BTW, the t-shirts will always be like this: very limited single run deals. We aren’t a t-shirt company, and we make little to no profit. We do it as a fan service. Only those who care should get them; and we know they will wear them proud.

Micro Art Studio have posted preview photos of their upcoming 28mm Iron Brotherhood Stalker tank.

    spider01.png

    From their website:

We’re extremely proud to present you the new Hortwerths work: Iron Brotherhoods Stalker MK1

The main purpose of Stalker is to transport brotherhood infantry squads, but you can also use it as a light tank.

The pre-order date of this mini is planned on early March or even on the end of February. The same pre-order date applies to the long-awaited infantry model that stands next to the Stalker. This is a prototype. The mini will be produced out of resin.

The Stalker MK1 which goes into production will be a little bit changed. The mini will look very similar to this one shown on the photos, beside that the “brotherhood transport mode” will be not included in the standard version of the tank. Later there will be an option to buy it as an add-on.

Privateer Press are increasing the price of their P3 paint range and will be delaying the release of some figures.

    From their announcement:

Due to rising manufacturing and shipping costs Privateer Press will be increasing the MSRP on our Formula P3 paints from $3.00 to $3.50 MSRP effective March 1, 2010 (PIP 93019 through 93082). The upcoming price increase will not affect Formula P3 washes, inks, or the Formula P3 Faction Paint sets which will remain at their current MSRPs of $3.50 and $17.99 respectively. The new price for the Formula P3 Paint Rack (PIP 93010) will be $1008.00 MSRP. Even with the price increase, we believe our customers will find Formula P3 paints to remain the best in both value and quality available today.

In addition, due to overseas factories operating at over capacity in terms of production as well as shipping delays from overseas ports, Privateer Press will be pushing back the release of the following plastic kits: PIP 31070 Firefly Light Warjack, PIP 32059 Exemplar Cinerators, PIP 32068 Vigilant Light Warjack, and PIP 34070 Ripjaw Light Warjack. While we apologize for the setback, we are determined to ensure that these products meet our exceptional quality standards and therefore, have chosen not to rush them through production. New release dates will be announced as soon as it is available.

The Flames of War website was updated yesterday with several new articles and product spotlights.

    653. Schwere Panzerjägerabteilung (Elefants)
In December 1943, the Soviets began operations that would ultimately drive a wedge between Army Groups South and Centre. By late March 1944, Soviet forces had surrounded the important road junction of Tarnopol with the goal of securing the junction and the rail line from Odessa to Lemberg, which was vital to the German war effort. During this time, the 653. Schwere Panzerjägerabteilung was undergoing refit with the overhauled Ferdinands (soon to be renamed “Elefant”).

    A Recce Over The Canal
As XXX Corps (30 Corps) sped forward to Arnhem they encountered numerous canals and rivers that crossed their path. The Germans knew these crossings were vital to the Allied advance and took every care to make sure they didn’t fall into enemy hands.

    Personalising Your Army Kit Bag!
When we announced the Army Kit Bag we also mentioned that there would be a range of unit patches and name badges that you could purchase to help personalise your bag (and more importantly help you to tell which one is yours!).

    A Bridge Too Far
We take a look at contents of the upcoming Operation Market Garden book, A Bridge Too Far.

Lt. Colonel Frost and Para Commanders (BR886)
On the afternoon of 17 September 1944, Frost’s 2nd Battalion landed on its assigned drop zone about six miles from the Arnhem Bridge. The battalion formed up and set off following the north bank of the Rhine.

    Airlanding Anti-Tank Platoon (BBX18)
It was decided to equip the British Airborne forces with an anti-tank weapon in 1942, after considering a number of options it was decided to use the new 6 pdr gun. Unfortunately the 6 pdr’s standard carriage was too wide to fit into a glider, a new carriage had to be developed.

Black Orc Games have added a new MiniSculpt release: A’sthoret Demon Assassin.

    100_ms_0103.jpg

    From their announcement:

Black Orc Games announces the next release in the MiniSculpt line. A´sthoret sculpted by Juan Montano is now available for purchase at $1.50. Remember to get your orders in before mid-February to avoid the price increase on the MiniSculpt/Bulk lines.

    A’sthoret demon assassin

There is a forbidden place which name is pronounced in a whisper or can be read in unholy texts written on human skin. This place is inhabited only by demons’ clans that have fought during eons and they will continue fighting until only a clan stays, it is said that when this should happen, the demons will be unleashed and consume the universe.

A’sthoret is an assassin demon who enjoys the combat like no other demon, he always is looking for the roughest warriors, the most fearsome demons, the wildest beasts to face in mortal combat, and after every victory he incorporates the enemies’ remains into his armor
