Cavalcade Wargames have released three Conquistador Ogre figures as part of their Fantasy Armies of the East range.

    IMG_2317_2.jpg

    From their website:

Our new release this week is our set of 3 Conquistador Ogres for the Fantasy Armies of the Far East line. The Conquistador Ogres have sailed many miles in search of treasure, adventures and…fresh meat. During earlier times, the Ogres would trade gunpowder and guns to the local population in exchange for food and provisions. Now, they are seeking fame and fortune by claiming as much land on the Far East islands as they can claim while shifting alliances from the warbands of orcs and armies of dwarves.

The Ogres are 50mm tall and come equipped with extra pieces such as helmets and weapons. Sculpted by Pedro Ramos. They are $8.99 each.

One Monk Miniatures are making their paper miniatures available for free.

    From their website:

After much thought and deliberation, I have decided to to change my hobby back into a hobby, and provide my designs for free download for all who want them.

I really want to thank those of you who have supported me over the years by purchasing my figure sets, and I hope they were of a good value to you. My decision to go free will hopefully not anger some of you who had purchased my figures in the past. Having a little boost to my income was a great help, especially as I transitioned from a high paying stress filled job, to a lower paying, but much more rewarding job in the adventure gaming industry. Now that I am a bit more established in my position at my new job, I no longer have such a great need for the extra income, and have lost my drive to design more stuff to sell.

The Huzzah! organizing team have sent along details of some of the sponsors for their wargaming event.

    From their announcement:

This year the Maine Historical Wargamers Association is undertaking two major efforts. The first is Huzzah!, our full weekend convention for historical wargaming and history enthusiasts (which is now less than one month away). The second is a club program to support the formation of student tabletop gaming clubs at middle and high schools in Maine, maybe colleges too.

In order to help fund these two efforts, the MHWA approached dozens of manufacturers, retailers, and other wargaming related services and shops to ask for items that could be used for gifts, prizes and a ticket auction fund raiser at Huzzah!

I am pleased to say that the generosity of the wargaming community has been incredible. This is in addition to all the vendors who have already offered their support of our painting contest, tournaments, and our Battle of Sabis game at Huzzah!

Mantic Games have added several new pre-orders to their online store.

    Dragon.jpg

    From their announcement:

Mantic Towers (which you can see in our new Guided Tour video), has a new gatekeeper – Garius Maximus, and he has some new and shiny things to show you this Easter.

To start with, we have two brand new metal kits: the Undead Death Kings Cabal and the Elf Lord on Battle Dragon, available for preorder.

With the Warhosts of the Undead now spilling into the mortal world, the Death Kings Cabal features 4 metal heroes -2 Necromancers, a Revenant Hero and a standard bearer – to lead your Undead horde into battle. Dynamically posed and possessed of fine detail, these insane characters raise up the remains of former soldiers to fight again once more and are included free in Malak’s Legion of Death.

For the Elves, nothing is more intimidating than an Elf Lord on Battle Dragon, and we proudly unveiled this figure in the mantic blog last week. The Battle Dragon is a premium metal kit and is great for those hobbyists who want to flex their painting muscles, or for gamers wanting to add the most powerful of heroes to their army. An Elf Lord on his own is a formidable opponent: coupled with a Battle Dragon, he is nigh on unstoppable.
