Ground Zero Games have removed their USNC Full Thrust miniatures to re-master the moulds.

    From their website:

As a few of you have already noticed (and emailed us about), the UNSC ships have all been removed from the FT ship listings over the last few days – don’t panic, they’ll be back. As we did with the Japanese ships a few weeks back, we have temporarily suspended production of the UNSC due to the fact that many of the moulds have reached the end of their useful life, and are no longer producing what we consider to be saleable castings.

The plan is for us to re-make all the UNSC and Japanese moulds and then re-release the fleets, with all the existing classes plus hopefully a few new additions, all cast from crisp, fresh moulds. This will be done as soon as time permits, hopefully sometime over the summer months, and when they are ready we will announce them here (and all our other usual places) with a big re-launch fanfare.

Please note that this means we will not have any of these two fleets with us at the forthcoming shows, Triples and Salute – though we hope they will be back in time for the Autumn shows (Colours etc).

Wizards has posted a new Star Wars Miniatures scenario titled Point Blank.

    From their website:

Late in the Clone Wars, the Republic dislodges the Separatists from bases and holdings in the Core. Damaged but not defeated, the Separatist forces withdraw and regroup in fortified regions in the Outer Rim, pursued by determined Republic fleets. Along the way, the Separatists attempt to divert the Republic forces and require them to spend time and resources engaging lesser targets.

One of these targets is a Separatist base on the planet Garia, within Brak Sector and not far off the Corellian Run. An active Separatist base so near the busy hyperspace lane could disrupt Republic fleets, their supply lines, and vulnerable civilian vessels. In one of many such actions, clone units detach from the fleet and attack the base directly.

Catalyst Game Labs has announced some financial irregularities that were recently discovered.

    From their website:

Catalyst Game Labs recently completed a detailed financial review of the company. We learned that over the past several years the company has achieved dramatic growth in terms of demand, increased total revenues and strong sales with an increasing market share in the gaming industry, despite a lackluster economy. We are thrilled by that news and are eager to move forward with our upcoming original game Leviathans, along with our other new casual games. We also remain committed to plans for our beloved licensed games: Shadowrun, BattleTech, Eclipse Phase, and CthuluTech.

While we wish the review had only uncovered positive news, we also discovered our accounting procedures had not been updated as the company continued to grow. The result was that business funds had been co-mingled with the personal funds of one of the owners. We believe the missing funds were the result of bad habits that began alongside the creation of the company, which was initially a small hobby group. Upon further investigation, in which the owner has willingly participated, the owner in question now owes the company a significant balance and is working to help rectify the situation.

This announcement is in relation to several recent departures from the company that have been detailed, among other places, on the Purple Pawn website.

CLA_Cover.jpgBrigade Games are now selling copies of the Contemptible Little Armies (WW1 era) 3rd Edition rules.

    From their website:
Contemptible Little Armies 3rd edition is a set of skirmish rules for use with 28mm miniatures. The third edition of the rulebook has been reorganized with a Table of Contents and color photos added. Some changes have been made to the rules as well, specifically, the Direct Fire resolution rules have been changed to take into account a defender’s tactical rating and models hit by Direct fire do not roll for casualty status until the phase just prior to Morale. This will provide a slight bit of uncertainty as to the status of a unit until the morale phase. And, to top it off, a quick reference chart of oft-used tables has been added to the back of the book. This should help speed up play.

“Contemptible Little Armies” takes its title from the Kaiser’s sneer at the British Expeditionary Force of 1914 – which of course soon turned out to be anything but contemptible. As the title suggests, the main focus of the rules is the First World War, but they are also suitable for many of the other conflicts of the same era, for example:
    • The Mexican Revolution, 1910 – c.1920.
    • The Italian-Turkish War of 1911 – 1912.
    • The Warlord Era in China, 1911 – 1928.
    • The Balkan Wars, 1912 – 1913.
    • The Russian Civil War, 1917 – c. 1922.
    • The Greek-Turkish War, 1920 – 1922.

Privateer Press have posted the concept art and a photo of the unpainted miniature for the Warmachine Cryx Satyxis Raider Captain.

    From their website:

Raider captains are some of the most notorious pirates to sail the black waves of Meredius. Each of them commands a crew of Satyxis and other inhuman monsters kept in line only by barbaric punishments and the promise of pillage and bloodshed. Guided by whim and murderous inclination, their vessels are the Scourge of the Broken Coast. Once the inertia of violence has taken a Raider Captain, she becomes caught up in the slaughter, leaping from victim to victim as the floor runs slick with blood and the air grows heavy with the screams of the dying.

Impact! Miniatures is having a sale as well as releasing several new fantasy football Elf miniatures.

    Timberline_Hunter2.jpg

    From their website:

We had a couple organizations approach us this month and offer joint partnerships on exciting new ventures. However such ventures take money. So for the rest of March all Impact. miniatures other than the Sarcos are 10% off, Rolljordan Buggers and Legio Dwarves are 35%! off as well. Finally our 7 newest figures Elf figures shown in the March 15th entry are 25% off for this March sale. So help us get some investment capital to bring you some great new items and get a discount while doing so.

We have added our first two Timberline Elf figures to the store. The two hunters are the work of Patrick Keith who will be producing all 12 figures for the final Elfball team that we need to create.

In addition, we’ve added 5 more Elf players for our Black Widows and Night Elf teams. These were amateur submissions from our Targeted Impact. program and we think the work of Guy England and Frank Sowieralski gives some great variety to these two older Impact. teams.

Eureka Miniatures have released their 28mm US Force Recon Marine figures.

    28mmUSMCForceReconModerns01.jpg

    From their website:

This new set of six miniatures represents just such a team. They are for the most part armed with M4A1 Carbines (the latest version of the M16 Rifle); a weapon that has evolved into a highly customisable system which can be equipped with holographic or telescopic sights as well as aiming lasers or illuminators. Also represented is the M203 Grenade Launcher, which when attached to the M4 provides significant additional firepower. More sustained fire-support comes from the M249 ParaSAW, the American version of the Belgian Minimi, here being carried by the radio operator in our set and fitted with a 30 round M16 magazine rather than the usual 200 round box magazine. As always Kosta has paid careful attention to the details, and a noteworthy characteristic of these miniatures is their webbing and load bearing gear. This consists of an authentic mix of older ALICE style webbing or commercially manufactured rigs (such as those from Black Hawk Tactical), as well as both standard issue and privately acquired packs.

In addition to our six man Force Recon Team Kosta has also made a sniper, armed with the fearsome .50 Cal Barrett Sniper Rifle for engaging long range targets or in a anti-material capability.

Days of Wonder have announced the Memoir ‘44 Breakthrough Expansion.

    From their website:

The Memoir ‘44 Breakthrough Expansion will take you deep into the battles of World War II with two, double-sided, 9-panel board maps covering all four Memoir ‘44 map environments – countryside, beach, winter and deserts. These oversize boards stretch the limit of current printing technology and are 13 x 17 hexes deep, opening up the Breakthrough format to new, more expansive scenarios.

The Breakthrough Expansion includes 15, never-in-print-before scenarios, created by Jacques “jdRommel” David, and Memoir ‘44 author, Richard Borg. These scenarios cover the Western and Eastern Fronts, as well as the Mediterranean and Pacific Theaters and include classic battles such as: Operation Crusader; Operation Amherst; and two different renditions of Sword Beach – all designed for the 13 x 17 hex Breakthrough format.

The Memoir ‘44 Breakthrough Expansion is an expansion for 2 players and requires a copy of Memoir ‘44. Depending on the scenario being played, additional expansions are highly recommended to fully enjoy the new Breakthrough maps, although players can substitute game pieces if they don’t own a specified expansion. The Memoir ‘44 Breakthrough expansion will be available in April in Europe and in early May in North America from your favorite Memoir ‘44 retailer and the Days of Wonder Web Store.
