Nexus Games (NG International) have sent along details of the products that they will have available and on display at Gen Con 2010.
From their announcement:
NG International, the Italian games publisher operating the Nexus Games and Tenki Games brands, will be present at Gen Con 2010 (August 5-8, Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis) introducing its upcoming new games. In booth 309, NG will run demos of the board games Magestorm, Dakota and Letters from Whitechapel, all scheduled to be released during the Q4 2010.
Other NG International games will be presented at Gen Con 2010 in the Fantasy Flight Games area, like the recently-released Battles of Napoleon – the Eagle and the Lion and the 12 new airplane models of Wings of War Miniatures WWI Series IV, scheduled to be released in September.
Magestorm, created by Piero Cioni, is a new board game where magic is at the center of the stage in a fantasy battle The battles among the different factions are fought under the shadow of mighty wizards, which help their mortal allies with their incredible powers and spells while trying to achieve their personal goals. The powers of each mage are very different, and by choosing a different mage to support an army, the game experience changes completely.
The game is set in Aleen, the world of the Two Suns, where the forces of magic flow across the land and the seas, penetrating deeply under the mountains and hovering up over the winds. After millennia living in the Western Continent, the humans come back to Tys, the Old Continent, from across the Deep Sea, leaving their lands destroyed by a long and raging war, and they are not welcome anymore. The original peoples living there react to the invaders, starting a new war.
The first boxed set of Magestorm is scheduled to be released in October 2010 and will feature two armies – the human invaders Kragis and the ancient race of humanoids Láusjan – and four mages (the Fire Mage, the Air Mage, the Druid and the Fate Guardian).
Dakota, the first game published by NG International using the “Tenki Games” brand, is inspired by the conquest of the West. Players will take the control of a group of settlers or a tribe of natives. Each player will cooperate and compete with all other players to increase the status of his own faction, competing for natural resources which will have different values for settlers and natives. The settlers will try to exploit the territory in order to make it productive for industry and agriculture while the natives must make all efforts to keep the territory virgin as long as possible, while at the same time using its resources for the sustenance and prosperity of their own tribe. An innovative mechanic allows to play in a balanced way even with a different number of settlers and native players.
Letters from Whitechapel is a crime and investigation game, created by the same game designers of Garibaldi and Mister X- Flight through Europe. It replicates the Jack The Ripper’s murders and the desperate attempts by Scotland Yard to stop his bloody killings. Night after night, the player who controls Jack commits a new murder and try to reach his hideout, while the other players, in the role of detectives, try to track him down, collecting clues that can lead to his capture. Letters from Whitechapel is a tense game with a accurate historical setting and very intense artwork and graphics.
