Games Workshop has started taking orders for their new Stormfang Gunship over in their webshop.

Stormfang Gunship

From the website:

The Stormfang Gunship is designed to dominate the skies while furiously blasting apart all who would oppose the Sons of Russ.

This multi-part plastic kit makes one Stormfang Gunship. It is equipped with a helfrost destructor that runs along the length of its fuselage. This formidable weapon is designed to freeze the target to absolute zero in an instant. The two side sponsons can be equipped with a choice of twin-linked heavy bolters, skyhammer missiles or twin-linked multi-meltas. On the hull you can either mount two stormstrike missiles or replace them with twin-linked lascannon.

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

I know it’s science fiction and all, but it just seems a bit dumb to wilfully break the laws of physics for no reason. For complex reasons it not possible to actually get to absolute zero. And that’s before you take into account a battlefield is not a closed system, so even if it was possible in a special lab the ambient air, earth etc, would all act to simultaneous warm the target such that absolute zero could never be reached. The fluff would still be same if the really stupid weapon just frozen stuff to the temperate of liquid nitrogen say, that would make most metals (armour) brittle enough to shatter and mess up flesh in a big way.

Not sure why, of all the things GW does this is the thing that has got my back up!!

I read that far, and thought that you were commenting on their sleek aerodynamic design.

But I suppose improbable freeze rays are silly too.

  • I could just pretend it was a machine gun or something if I could get over the fact that it’s fired from a jet powered dumpster. 🙂

    • Man, a jet-powered dumpster… now /there’s/ something I wish I’d had working all those years as a janitor…

  • Chameleon

Another fine addition to the chapter’s Sanitation Enginering detachment.

  • estrus

Now I can’t see it as anything other than a chibi X-Wing humping a dumpster.

    • Wow, it really does. Maybe GW is trying to send out a semi-subtle message to the masses? Of dumpster humping?

  • Gallahad

Ha! You guys are cracking me up. Estrus and Chameleon both hit the nail on the head.

Freeze rays are a new low, even for GW. Right out of Saturday morning cartoons.

  • oh god I’m laughing too hard… thanks guys
