New Beyond the Gates of Antares, Bolt Action, and Pike & Shotte Units From Warlord Games

There's a whole bunch of new things either available or coming soon from Warlord Games. They've got a new faction coming for Beyond the Gates of Antares in the form of the Virai, along with a new starter set for the Ghar. Then, over in Bolt Action, the US forces have a new Heavy Mortar Team and Jeep. Finally, the Landsknects are the focus for a trio of releases for Pike & Shotte. Have yourself a look.

After the experience of gas in World War I, the Americans added a Chemical Corps into the army armed with 4.2? mortars to fire poisonous gas. The near-total absence of chemical on the battlefield in World War II led to a rapid reorganisation of these units, which became heavy mortar sections.


In June 1940 the American army asked for a vehicle that could “go-anywhere”. The answer was the four-wheel drive Willys MB and the Ford GPW, both models referred to as ‘Jeeps’. 630,000 jeeps were produced by the end of the war.


Europe in the late 15th and early 16th centuries was a place of almost constant warfare. With no organised national armies battlefields were the domain of the mercenary companies of the day – chief amongst these were the colourfully dressed Landsknechts.


The late 15th and early 16th centuries in Europe were defined by near-constant warfare. National ‘standing armies’ were unheard of and the ambitions of empires were reliant on the mercenaries they could afford to hire.
