Starfinder is just finding itself all over Kickstarter recently. The campaign to create miniatures was a success with Ninja Division. This time around, it’s Paizo teaming up with Steve Jackson Games to bring you a new expansion for Munchkin. Head out into the void with Munchkin Starfinder.

From the campaign:

Play a laser-toting explorer in Munchkin Starfinder, where we combine the backstabbing, monster-killing, “roleplaying” action of classic Munchkin with the hostile planets, sleek starships, and alien creatures found in Paizo Publishing’s new Starfinder Roleplaying Game! Choose from more than a dozen new races and classes to beat up space monsters, loot exotic planets, and race to Level 10.

Munchkin Starfinder was developed by Munchkin Line Editor Andrew Hackard and illustrated by Howard Tayler, known for his webcomic Schlock Mercenary as well as his work in the Writing Excuses podcast alongside Brandon Sanderson and other great authors.

This 168-card stand-alone game comes with new races, new classes, and Starfinder-specific card backs. Like most Munchkin games, this is for 3 to 6 players, ages 10 and up, and takes 1 to 2 hours to play.

Back this game today and start looting in this spacefaring adventure!

This is a quick campaign. They’re over 3x funded, but only 9 days is left to get in on it.

This just sees wrong for Kickstarter…established company that has had no trouble making 10000 other versions of the same game needs crowd funding?

The days of KS as a true crowdfunding platform are long gone. Nowadays it’s a glorified pre-order system where backers take 100% of the risk. Nice work if you can get it.

Or as in Spartan’s case, a lender of last resort, when you are about to go under. I now regard established companies doing KSs for existing product lines with deep suspicion.
