Mongoose Publishing has announced Blue Shift, a new sci-fi minis game they’re working on centered around mercenary commanders and their squadrons of ace pilots. The game is looking to be super-customizable. Check it out.

From the release:

As with all our miniatures games, the core rules of Blue Shift are extremely easy to get into, but there are a wealth of options and additions to continue breathing new life into your games. Add to that a drop in/drop out campaign system, and you will have everything you need to wage war across Nethersky and get rich in the process…

Look out for more previews over the following months. Blue Shift is set for a winter 2012 release.

“As with all our miniatures games, we don’t intend to support this one very well, but we DO plan on making a bunch of promises that we won’t bother keeping” fixed that typo for ya

    lol so true

Too be fair I guess their games never really took off for real so maybe they just keep trying for a jackpot. Starship Troopers had some really nice minis and I heard the rules were some of the best at the time. Maybe they lost the license? Did Battlefield or whatever it was called reuse the rules? It could have been nearly as big as FoW now. Oh that’s right prepainted fad killed it.

  • Hmm sounds interesting but Mongoose doesnt have the best of records which is a shame as they have produced some good stuff over the years, apart from the Battlefield Evolution games truly awful sculpts and prepainted nonsense!

I would be interested to see how the game develops though…

    All the best!

To be fair, I think acts star trek would be doing a lot better if they hadn’t killed the hype they built by screwing up first launch.

    Ah, a future dead game.

We’ve had quite a bit of fun with SF ACTA – a bit troubling that they are pushing a new game when they haven’t managed to ship the fleet boxes that were advertised before Christmas.
