MERCS shows off the final art for the Texico models coming out soon! Here’s a small sample, the rest can be seen at their website. I must admit, I love the guy with the duster and the hat.

From the preview:

I know what you all really want to hear is a release date for these guys. Unfortunately I don’t have one that I can share just yet. However, what I can share is the final art that I finished drafting up for the new deck of cards. They are going off to the printer this week.

Here is the final product all dun! Hope you enjoy—

Texico? Really? I guess they made the background nice and clunky so as to match the models.

Uh Texico makes perfect sense in the setting as the US fragmented into industrial blocks and Texas already does what it wants more than is usual. As to clunky models, have you handled any in person? The Russian faction is intentionally clunky based on fluff and Soviet design aesthetic, and the anarchist and Southern American faction are downright svelte.

I agree. While the soviets are intentionally chunky the other factions are in no way chunky. Well, except for one unfortunate cloak. I think Infinity is the only line that is appreciably more lithe and that’s because Infinity’s anime style calls for it. I own all the models for the first 4 MERCS factions and I think they’re great.

    Texaco? The gas station?

    • cama

Yes. Apparently. And you will have self-serve, and like it.

    • Durandal

Yup, real-world (-esqe technically as Texaco is spelled well… Texaco) corporation naming is common trope in Cyberpunk and Texaco (the brand) seems like a likely corporate overlord for part of North America and Central America.

The actual corporation is apparently strong in the US (naturally), Mexico (hmm, I wonder if that is the reason for the spelling change?), West Africa (didn’t know that) and even the UK. So they have a fair bit of reach

Can’t wait to see the minis in the flesh, MERCS makes some awesome stuff and that Marshal looks delightfully over the top.

  • MadNes

Dissapointed… I was told Texico would have some Mexican, Aztec flair. This is not what I was hoping for.

    • You did see the jaguar, yes?

  • GS_topcow

where are the sombreros!? kidding, looks great and practical, as desert gear should!

  • GS_topcow

woah, i clicked without seeing the rest of the art, some tough looking minis there (the sniper is in the exact same pose as an Infinity Haqquislam piece), the jaguar wields a m?cuahuitl (macana!) and is of course named aptly after the aztec warriors, so some of the flavour is there. the marshall looks an awful lot like a bandido thou (heh heh).

    I’ll take them all.

  • evernevermore (John)

The sniper is in the same pose as the Infinity figure because thats an actually position snipers are trained to shoot from. Its much more accurate a depiction than a sniper holding the rifle at arms length.

  • MadNes

Saw the Jaguar, but the faction has too high a tex to mex ratio for my taste. I’ll probly go with the CCC since they are based in Chicago.
