I remember playing the hell out of Double Dragon back when I was a kid. Despite the fact that I never really got all that far in the game (I’ve never been that great at video games), I can definitely still remember all the side-scrolling action. Well, that’s what MegaMetroCity brings to your tabletop. It’s a game that recreates the feel of those old arcade fighters. And it’s coming to Kickstarter next month.
About the game:
This April 24th on Kickstarter. MegaMetroCity is a beat ’em up board game with an old school style. It’s a miniatures game from one to up to four players with games lasting from 45 to 90 minutes.
MegaMetroCity’s mechanics are inspired by the classics of the 80s and 90s. The board scrolls as the players advance to represent the scroll of the screen. Heroes can get upgrades that will make them stronger and also master stunts like Sonic blow, Tactics or the deadly Nuclear Suplex. There will also be special techniques that csn clear all enemies in exchange for some health—just smash all the buttons at the same time! You will find at least four different types of thugs (from the classic punk to the roller girls, expelled from the roller dearby league for their extreme ferocity) in addition to leaders, bosses and final bosses that will defy anyone who claims to be up to the challenge of fighting them. And, besides that, of course you’ll see things like recovering health by eating junk food, weapons like the classic lead pipe, throwing rubbish cans to enemies or fighting in an Irish pub full of thugs!
Thanks to the Story Mode the Heroes will be able to choose their own path to reach the Final Boss and save the neighborhood from the violence that plagues it. And also they will have the chance to avenge all the arcade machines that the criminals have destroyed. Depending on the path they choose, the Stages will challenge us with different objectives and difficulties to overcome.
