Occasionally, games get purchased by a new company who look to give them a good overhaul. That’s what’s going on with Medieval. HGN Games has picked it up and gave it a good scrubbing. The art has been entirely changed, and the rules got a good streamlining. They’re looking to bring this new version to Kickstarter so it can get to tabletops near you.
About the game:
In Medieval you wage war, unleash the plague, excommunicate the unworthy, and drive back the Mongol hordes—you know, fun 13th Century stuff.
Medieval is a strategy boardgame designed for 3-5 players and plays in less than two hours. It’s coming to Kickstarter later this month, and stretch goals will extend the action to 2 players, 6 players, and solitaire too.
In Medieval, you are the head of a cabal—bent on controlling provinces, kingdoms, and of the Medieval world through skulduggery and outright conquest. The object? Spread your influence by controlling regions of Europe, the East, and North Africa—all while driving back the Mongol hordes.
Medieval was first released by GMT Games and designer Richard Berg in 2003, and the upcoming HGN edition of Medieval is a full-on graphic and component overhaul of the original. It also packs in a set of streamlined rules, “jump start” play aids to get new players up and running quickly, along with new gameplay options.
