Marrying Mr. Darcy, the Pride and Prejudice card game, up on Kickstarter now

Marrying Mr. Darcy, a card/RPG game based on the novel Pride and Prejudice, is up on Kickstarter now. They’ve made 2.5x their goal, so go check it out.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that lovers of Pride and Prejudice want to marry Mr. Darcy. Marrying Mr. Darcy is a strategy card game where players are one of the female characters from Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice. Players work to earn points and attract the attention of available suitors. Our heroines do this by attending events and improving their characters, but advantage can be gained by the use of cunning. All of their efforts are in hopes of marrying well and becoming the most satisfied character at the end of the game!

    Well I guess its a kickstarter so that ticks a lot of boxes. And Mr Darcy IS more dishy than Commissar Yarrick. But…target audience? Really?

      Well yes, actually. Many gamers I know are also the literary types so this seems like a good fit, especially if you look at the funding so far.

      But unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. No matter how hard I try, wife just isn’t into gaming, even if the theme is totally something she’s passionate about, like Austen. I’ve tried with BSG, LOTR, and other games where she loved the books/shows/movies, but reexperiencing those thru a game just didn’t work for her.
