I’m a big fan of abstract strategy games. So, looking at Mainland, a new tile-laying game up on Kickstarter, it looks right up my alley. In it, players are looking to place their tiles out on the board, in an effort to create large sections of interconnected tiles called their Mainland. Tiles must be placed partially covering another of your tiles, and that overlap must match symbols. As the board grows and space gets tight, placement will be key in the race to have the largest land mass under your control.
From the campaign:
A new world is forming in total chaos. Hostilities between clans are now open and battles seem inevitable. As the leader of your clan, your mission is to conquer territories and expand a powerful Mainland. This is the only way to secure the future of your people.
As players place cards on the board, different territories are created. Your Mainland is your largest territory. Each player has a Mainland, and, probably, some minor territories.
The campaign’s around 3/5 funded with still 14 days left on the clock.
