Grindhouse Games have posted photos of a painted example of their Incursion Panzeraffe miniature.

Panzeraffe

From their website:

Okay, I know we just did this whole big hooplah thing this morning, releasing SNAFU. Tom, bless his heart worked all day today to finish painting Panzeraffe. He probably wants combat pay for that! He still has a couple more days of work to do on Gracie as she’s such a beast. Panzeraffe is about twice as big as I think he was expecting. Hence the delay… Anyhoo, here’s the big guy.

The pose is a little weird, but it look’s cool, and I’ll probably end up picking it up.

I wonder if I’d be able to change the angle a little so it doesn’t look like he’s looking at the ceiling, and maybe bend the back elbow…

  • blkdymnd

Yeah, the posing is really off, but details are fantastic. With him as big as he is, his gun arm should be pointing down farther and I agree with the angle of the head and right arm.

  • We can use him as a proxie in Pulp City for Guerilla if you have an inkling to do so. Especially if Guerilla has used some combat drugs or something.

    • Borzag

I want to agree, but unless my eyes deceive me this lad completely fills a 50mm base (or the copper’s tiiiiny). He would be good as a big Pulp Monster though….

      • Wow, yeah. I figured he’d be a Guerilla clone, but you’re right, he’s Apebot-size.

  • Nosaj Verush

I have no problem with the pose. I don’t think he is aiming, just shooting madly and howling a battle cry toward the sky.

  • Nosaj Verush

I am surprised at his size. I did not think he was Mighty Joe Young size!

  • Ken

I’m with Nosaj. I had no idea it was going to be so large. Awesome! I just hope he fits in my 3D board.

As for the pose, I think the high angle makes it look more awkward that it is. It looks to me like he is being thrown back a bit by firing, and maybe preparing to swat someone leaping at him with his other hand.

    Strong work Grindhouse!

I think I like him better painted but I do agree the pose is a little odd. Is anyone else incapable of finding the details of the mega deals on the site or is it just me?

  • Hey gang, though that is Jason’s intended pose, he can easily be sortof tilted forward when you glue him down for a less “enthusiastic” pose. I’ll see if I can get one glued up and post it on the blog to demonstrate.

      Excellent. Thank you.

Looks good. Wasn’t there a gorilla for the Germans already in AE WWII?

  • Delicious, definitely going on the buy list.

  • Woah – he’s heeeeowwww’uge! Fantastic ‘mini’ (great paintjob too).

  • abbysdad

@Keltheos: Yes, there is a cybernetic ape in AE-WW2. And in Reaper’s pulp line. And in Hellboy. And in Pulp City. And in DUST.

Miniature Wargames: Not Complete Without Monkeys 😀

  • Very very nice!

  • WingedApe

I wanted to convey ferocious bestial battle-howling AND what happens when you one-arm a huge automatic tankbusting piece of ordnance….even if you are a giant mutated blood-berserk gorilla. And, thats what I did:)

Thanks, Jim for the opportunity to work on this piece, and thanks, Mr. Shadle for a tremendous paint job!
