Herald Lovecraft and Tesla

So, it would seem that all the books that H.P. Lovecraft wrote weren’t just some crazy stories he decided to jot down. They were, instead, notes from investigations that he was doing into the strange, other-worldly beings that were seen invading into our own reality with ever-increasing regularity. Along with the likes of such people as Nikola Tesla, Amelia Earheart, Harry Houdini, Marie Curie, Babe Ruth, Charlie Chaplin, and many other of the 20’s most famous people, it’s a race against the elder gods to save the Earth. That’s the story behind Herald: Lovecraft & Tesla (which is based on the Action Lab comic series as well). They’re up on Kickstarter now.

The crux of the Kickstarter campaign is making a 175-page book based on the Savage Worlds system that brings the world of Herald to life on your tabletop. This main book will have everything you need to get going, including maps, equipment, vehicles, and stats on various Elder gods. There’s even several adventures (both a campaign and one-shots).

Beyond that, though, they have plenty of other things to offer, like GM Screen Inserts, Digital Token Packs, several different maps of various locations like Providence, The Elsewhere, and Boston. There’s also more adventures you can check out.

The campaign is about half funded with still 27 days left to go.

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

Wait, does Robert E Howard make an appearance wielding a two handed sword? Howard and Lovecraft were pen pals after all.

    • I don’t know, because I didn’t know about the comic before this Kickstarter (and only just found out about the Kickstarter yesterday). But I do know that’d be absolutely badass if Howard came charging into some battle at some point like that.

Robert Howard was born in 1906, making him about 17 years old in 1923. He was a boxer.. a body builder and a secret writer of slaughter fiction.. Umm, let me think.. YES! In fact R.E. Howard is a prominent character in one of our starting adventures! Guess who else is 17.. Ernest Hemingway. Just saying… πŸ˜€

Howard and Hemingway both killed themselves. Lovecraft got cancer at an early age, and Tesla died alone. What a depressing group of heroes.

Actually, that does fit into a cosmic horror noir story, doesn’t it? Never mind.

Throw in Robert W. Chambers as the Old Mentor.
