Haste Games has launched their Kickstarter campaign for their The Empire line of miniatures.

From the campaign:

The empire is a modular 28mm heroic scale faction for a game of medieval fantasy massive battles. The boxes of regiments compose ten, fifteen or twenty units of hard plastic with a number of modular components to configure armies uniquely.

The miniatures will come in plastic sprues, from which the components should be separated, glued and painted. Each box will also contain an instruction sheet in several languages and the corresponding bases.

Our rules will be available for free on our website to anyone who wants to download them.

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

Thanks for doing the legwork on the company for me.

The other problem is, there are already a few good pseudo-historical medieval lines out there that are much more dynamic and interesting, such as ex-illis (though now defunct but still easily obtainable) or that other line that’s been posting the gothic templar knights stuff lately.

What the hell is going on!? I’m supposed to have another thirty-some good years in me before I get Alzheimer’s!

I think “now defunct” pretty much sums up the market. Most of these start-ups aren’t competing with GW, Privateer Press, or Mantic. They are competing with the clearance bins overflowing with top-notch figures from defunct manufacturers who were once just as starry-eyed and full of hope. Just yesterday, I spent $20 on 26 fantasy figures, all brand new and still in the boxes they were packaged in back around 2006.

No! NO! That’s not you! That was MEEEEEE!

          • That there made me laugh.

Great, at least I made Polar — WHUUUUT!? That comment . . . it’s also from another place . . . another time! I feel like I’m in the Matrix but written by someone competent, like Richard Matheson, back when he was writing for the Twilight Zone.
