Organized crime has a long and storied history in Britain. I mean, just watch a Guy Richie movie and you’ll know that. (whywouldIwantacaravanthataintgotnofookinwheelsonit?) In Gangs of Britannia, you’ll be in charge of one of those gangs, looking to expand your influence and take over more turf. But it’s not going to be easy, as everyone wants a bit of the pie. You’ll have to work along with your enemies just long enough to backstab them at just the right moment. The game is up on Kickstarter now.
About the game:
Gangs of Britannia is a historic UK gang themed (Peaky Blinders, Kray Twins etc.) game based around the age old prisoners dilemma: 2 prisoners have committed a crime, but are given the option to eliminate their sentence by incriminating and ratting out their co-criminal. What should they do?
The prisoners dilemma in this game is the choice to cooperate with your rival gangs, or deceive them to steal turf and territory. The trick is choosing the right moment to stick the knife in. Deceive early in the game and the trust is decimated. Deceive too late, and other gangs become more powerful than you and you lose control.
You and your fellow players vie for control over the major cities of Britain by spreading your mobs, collecting payouts, and using secret intelligence to advance your influence. In a game where luck decides little, carefully pick who you cut deals with as betrayals can lurk behind the next card.
One thing is certain amongst the Gangs of Britannia – trust is slowly built but quickly broken…
The Kickstarter campaign’s up and running now. They’re a bit more than 2/3 of the way to their goal with still 16 days left to go.
