I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.
  • This is a great boxed set with plenty of options but I can’t understand why there are not two box options: 1 for the basic squad of ten troops and a separate one for the command squad. Instead, the price is high for five plastic troops. If it was the asking price for ten troops, that would be different but it seems that having all the extra options that won’t get used is the way ahead for GW at the moment.

    Excellent looking models though :).

Hasn’t ‘more value/less models’ been GW policy ever since they discontinued selling individual bits on their website and forbade their retailers from cracking open the boxes for bitz sales? Of course, the best part is that 10 of these guys will only cost you $7 more than buying a 10 man Death Korps of Krieg squad from Forge World. Totally worth it!

  • AccessDenied

All valid points, but even worse, “it’s”?

    • Soulfinger

I missed that. Didn’t want to pay the $5 surcharge to read the product description.

That’s a metaphor for GW’s approach to releases over the past few years. You pay more for extra apostrophes in the box that you neither need or want.

This is just the first release. GW are being sneaky I think and releasing this before the 10 man box because they know people will order these to fill in the troop choices out of impatience. There will undoubtedly be a follow-up 10 man box and you will hear a collective “Eff me” when everyone realizes they put down at least twice as much as they needed to.

The rumors that reported this release mentioned that the army’s releases will be staggered… so it makes sense.

Personally, I think these look great. I like some of the more natural poses that aren’t your typical “I’m a guy holding my arms like this so I can be multi-part plastic” type of poses. Would I buy them? If it turns out that I’m wrong and these are the main kit for these guys.. then no.. sorry. If there’s a 10 man box that’s $35ish.. then maybe.

I don’t think that, with a few exceptions, the problem has been GW making bad minis.

      • 4tonmantis

Could you elaborate? I’m far from a GW fanboy.. but I think they have a fair collection of well-sculpted models in their catalog..

        • Soulfinger

I think he meant it the other way around. Eliminate the interjection and it makes more sense: “I don’t think that . . . the problem has been GW making bad minis (with a few exceptions).”

          • 4tonmantis

Ah.. then.. I am even less sure of what he was trying to convey.. hm.. methinks it’s lunch time..

            Yes.. indeed it is!

The Scions were created by GW. And they have a plan.

The vehicle really remind me of Tehnolog from Russia. Not what I had expected for IG.

The Scions are not bad – very much a slight redesign of the Stormtroopers from years ago.

Yeah I first saw the new vehicles on April 1 so I thought it was an april fool’s joke.
